let me ask my neighbor if he would host it for a day...I know his site is small and it probably wouldnt handle a full assault from the net.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

Are you talking about Spoilers or Spoiler IIs?

The Spoilers were available with the CJ. I bet more than two were built. All were white with blue or red trimming.

The Spoiler IIs were the NASCAR versions. Aside of the aerodynamic cosmetics, what set these cars apart was the 351W ONLY.

If they made two of these cars with the 428 CJ, the only way to confirm is to get the VIN and call Marti Auto Works.

Wasent there an episode of "My Classic Car" where dennis showcased a yellow one?, i remember him saying something about it being one of two? Or was that a King Cobra?

If it's yellow, it ain't a '69. And no Cyclone put out those kinds of figures.

According to the information that I have 500 were built with the 428CJ.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

this yellow cars decals looked original and even were flaking a little thats what had me thinking original paint car..it was clean but looked like it was driven as it should be...anyway it said Cobra & something and 428..it had a little lope at idle but not crazy, I glanced and it looked pretty stock under the hood and the owner was Joe Ford..I was impressed with the torque number and how clean it pulled..has to be a blast on the street to hit it hard.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

CJ stands for Cobra Jet.I mentioned on the previous post that there were 500 built.500 had to be built to be put into production so as of know I dont have numbers on this car.I have a friend that might have production numbers I'll call him about the car.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

i was refering to the II's. i know they were either Yarborough's or Gurney's. i have heard that 2 were built with the 428.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

Previously, it was thought that 519 Spoiler IIs were built. This is not the case. More recently, the number has been 323, but I don't think this is true either.

Either way, a 1969 Spoiler or Spoiler II is eithe white and red or white and blue. All of the latter came with 351Ws. To determine if there's a freak out there, Marti Auto Works is the only way to find out. From all the posts here, there's too much misinformation to make any sense out of anything. If you want a yellow Spoiler, it'd have to be a '70-71, and the CJs that they were available with were 429s, of which MUCH more than 2 were built.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

I've read the same information about the 500 number and the 323 number.I did alittle digging and found that 20 spoilers had the 428CJ with the drag pack.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

Where did you find the SCJ info?

I don't think it's known how many of the Spoilers were regular Cyclones vs. Spoiler IIs. However, I think it's generally acknowledged that there were more IIs than regular Spoilers.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

To be honest with you I cant remember were I got the information from.I've had this information for awhile know it had to of be a website.I dont have the book but Marti auto works has detailed info on Cougars,Mustangs and Spoiler cars.Martis book would the book to have for this kind of information.Go to Martiauto.com and you can order the book from there.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

Um, wasn't it me who first suggested to check with Marti? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

There is no book other than for Mustangs and Cougars. The demand is not there for the mid-sized cars. . . and that means Spoilers. The only way to get that is from one of his "reports" - and I have yet to see a Spoiler with one of those.

gtaa9 07-23-2005 06:21 AM

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

Not to cause an arguement but you mentioned on another post to check out Martis information on Cyclones to the guy that started this particular subject. Then you mention that Marti does'nt have this info after I suggested to check out Martis auto works???

442w30 07-23-2005 06:52 AM

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

Hey, no sweat . . . Marti only has books for Mustangs and Cougars. However, he has invoices for all Ford products from 1967- so info exists for the Cyclone. Mr. Marti just hasn't compiled the production figures in book form. If you'd like to see one of those invoices, let me know and I'll post one.

gtaa9 07-23-2005 10:05 PM

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

Ok I see I knew he had the books on the Mustang and Cougars. How long do you think it will take Marti to compile the #'s for the Cyclones?

442w30 07-23-2005 11:49 PM

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

I know for a fact (99% sure) that the book for the mid-sized cars won't be published due to lack of demand (read: no profit). However, all you have to do is call and ask how many Cyclone Spoilers were made with the CJ (Q and R codes). I think they'll charge $15 for that. Or do what I do and surf eBay and see what people post on their ads. If there is a car of interest, I always keep the Marti report for my records.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

You bring up a good point. When you are looking for a certain make model and year muscle car try to find as much information as you can on the car.If your a Mercury fan Marti is the way to go with the production numbers because I know for a fact that the #'s that he has for Mustang and Cougar are 100% correct. And in knowing that I'm pretty sure that the Cyclone #'s are accurate also.

Cool pics.I've seen both cars in magazines and I saw the yellow one on My Classic Car awhile ago.The Yellow car has the 429 Boss and I believe its hop up alittle bit and of course the red one has the 351 Boss motor.

Re: 69 Cyclone Spoiler 428??

I just saw the Cyclone Spoiler II at the Ford Nationals at Carlisle. See pics. Another Ford I would love to own if I had unlimited funds is the 1970 Quarterhorse Mustang both cars have Boss 429's and both were gorgeous Notice the hood the NACA scoop ducts were there but not cut out. Has the Shelby nose and fenders https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif
