Re: Torq Thrusts or Cragars?

I can't vote--they both look great.

TT's: 15x6 front, 15x8 back. Paint spokes silver. (Anything but the gray factory paint.)

S/S's: 15x4 front with L78 tires. 15x8 rear with Pos-A-Traction Torque Twister L50's. Oh yeah, you can't get those anymore. Rats!

You have a tough decision all right! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Dare to be different. 1/2 and 1/2 TT's on passenger side and SS's on Drivers side. Can only see one side of the car at a time anyway https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Mr Hawaiian: This is going to sound dumb, BUTT arround about 1968 we useto run split sets of wheels. I ran Keystones on the front and cragers on the back. Don't ask me why it just something we did. Neet ,cool whatever.

People still do split the front and backs.

Joe the rallys aren't going anywhere. Just wanted to do something different. Plus I think a set of mags will look nice doing down the track. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Both look good Darren, but if you go with the Cragars, you need to turn the white letters in and show the blackwalls https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

I agree a set of torq thrust mags would look cool, but not a set of "out of the box" ones from Summit Racing. Find a set of vintage 5 spokes with the "old school" spoke and lip design, and forget the BFG's. Bias-ply is the only way to fly! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

True but those are pretty hard to find. I wanted them and could not find any good one worth trying to restore. Maybe i was looking in the wrong places. I bought the new American racing ones. They still look good! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Darren dare to be even more different! Get some Ansen Slots! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Yeah, Yeah I know that is too radical for most here. If I were gonna choose between the two I would say for sure go with the Cragers. I would bet that more cars actually ran with them back in the day vs. the TT's.

Oh yeah!! Joey is right.....DO NOT put them BFG's back on that car if you are doin' a wheel swap! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Yeah! Slot mags! I hadn't thought of that. Yep, surf eBay for a few weeks and score some big-n-little slots. I'm still thinking 4-inch fronts and 8-inch rears. Bias plys all around. Suddenly it's 1975!

Darren ole boy, Be crazy like me and have at LEAST 3 different tire and wheel combos. No matter what they say the tried and true Cragar SS is #1 on the list. Then the TT's, Slots, and Rallys. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

If you put the Torque Thrusts on paint the centers and they will look much better. How about Minilites? I think they look great too and you never see them.

Re: Torq Thrusts or Cragars?

I think the TT's look awesomely https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif on the car! Leave them the way they are...less hassle with cleaning, too!

Make sure you post some more pictures of your car, once you get the engine back together!

THAT'S IT! Why settle for one set??? Pure genious! One set of each. With Rallys too that's four sets. Slots, Cragars, TTs, and Rallys. The possibilities are endless. How about 15x3.5 and 8.5 Centerlines too for a Car Craft Street Machine Nationals 1980 look?

Stop the vote. Your decision has been made.

I was thinking the standard satin finish. Okay, so one set satin and one set polished makes (One, two, three, four...) uhhh, SIX sets of wheels. Darren, you need to borrow against your house buddy. One, to buy the wheels, and two, to build an addition on your garage to store them.

Can't wait to see pictures!

Maybe Belair can set up a Pay Pal link for your wheel fund. I'm in for a buck. Okay, TWO bucks. If all 2,000-plus members pony up you'll be in wheels in no time.
