Re: 1969 SS Nova for sale

Like I said "sold to me as a big block car with air,no way of knowing" I am not familiar with Novas and thought the L78 cars had no air but wasnt sure about the 325/350 hp cars so I had no idea so I learned something today! Still a very solid SS 4 speed car,,Thanks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

If it is a FACTORY BB car, could not have come with A/C. Not available with any BB engine 68-70.

The AMA specification sheets that GM submitted for the Nova shows N/A regarding A/C on any factory BB Nova. The price sheets only show A/C for the standard V-8 (meaning 307) or the 350's. No BB.

[/ QUOTE ]That may be the case for '68-'69, but in '70 I'm purty sure you could get A/C in a BB/auto combo... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

I was looking at the specs for the '70 model year.

If you have some evidence of a factory BB Nova with A/C, I'd love to see it.

There was a 70 in TX for sale for a long time (aqua, BB L34, TH400), but no one could prove it to be the real deal. It kept getting passed from dealer to dealer. The last time I checked, the selling dealer wouldn't cough up any numbers on the block or anything else to help verify the car. The owner history trail led to Indiana, but I couldn't get a call-back on that lead.

I supposed a person could have put a Camaro A/C heater box in one and create a car. If you have proof of a real one, please educate all of us Nova guys. Thanks! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: 1969 SS Nova for sale

The L34 was much rarer in '70 than the L78. Both 4 speeds and auto's were sold. A friend from college, Larry Ault, had an gobi beige/black bucket/console/loaded, auto L34, he bought it new from a So Fla dealer in approx April/May 1970.

Re: 1969 SS Nova for sale

Rear defrost is not too common, however, it was also an accessory item, so a lot of Novas had it added later.

I had factory rear defrost in my 70 L78 nova. Worked prety good.

Re: 1969 SS Nova for sale

It really was a Defogger.
Dealer acc. catalog shows it was not to be considered a heating unit.
It was simply a fan that directed interior air upwards onto the glass to eliminate condensation before it freezes.
No Heat element used,so it wasn't very efficient at melting ice.Not like todays wire heating elements. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

My 69 Nova has the original C50 option rear defroster. (Only installed on 6,165 Novas in 1969) Cost as per my window sticker was $22.15.

My red 70 L78 has a dealer added rear defogger. I lose 2 tenths when I leave it on at the track. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Re: 1969 SS Nova for sale

Is this the same '69 Nova SS that is currently being advertised in the Des Moines Register (Iowa's main newspaper)?

The ad states the Nova as being an original big block 4 speed car, automatic now, AC, PS, PB, rear defrost, & lots of new parts. Price is $3,500. Or $2,500 w/o drag equipment.
