Somebody check his forehead, I think he's got an auction fever!!! |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Not bad for a car that the owner was thinking abouut restoring!. I was to fly out and look at the orange COPO of Reggies the week before at 65K. The guy that was interested liked the car but was turned off by the white gut...BKH
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
I too didn't like the ivory, brian,
the black copo just sold for 45k some spread between the two??? Charlie, did you get to inspect these two cars? chris |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
kind of odd that one of reggies old cars(the black copo) with supposedly 40k original miles and all matching numbers would have an a/c dash. i guess i wasn't the only one wondering what the deal was, could that be why it only brought $45k?
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
whats up with the black copo anyone know hte car. jeff
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Hi from Barrett-Jackson. I was the one that bid $67,000 on Reggie's Orange Copo and then he started talking and the bidding started again and ended up at $73,000. I thought the orange one was the better of the three. I went to Russo-Steele today to look at the Blue Yenko and Brian was RIGHT about the car, the stripes were painted on and all messed up. The drive-train was totally wrong also. People get the fever and I bet it will still bring in big bucks especially after the '67 Yenko brought in big bucks. Talk to you guys later. Having a Great Time. Mark

Re: Barrett-Jackson
Was anyone else expecting the orange COPO to do better?
It looked pretty sharp to me. Did I miss something? |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
I talked to Reggies guy about the Orange COPO. He said they had protecto, Shipper invoice and I think window sticker. Neat car that was a nice driver with some really big headers. The engine pad looked good. Neat car. I like the white int.My friend bought the 67 Yenko right at what we figured it would take to own it. Neat car. I haven't had time to see the Black COPO. Musclecars are very strong. Let me be the first to announce that Jim Hughes(NWYENKO) couldn't keep his hands off his wallet. He bought a nice Black 67 SS 396 Chevelle convert. He's not checking Email for a couple days so you can all think of some appropriate Crap to give him.

Re: Barrett-Jackson
May be a stupid question, but can anyone tell me what the Nova's and the '71-72 BB Chevelle's/Camino's were bringing that I see lurking in the background of the pic's above ??
Thanx, Jim |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
I'll bet thats a clone. Do you know anyone that puts one of those stupid flags on a real car? Plus wrong hood placement of emblems, wrong centercaps, KELLY tires! ..BKH

Re: Barrett-Jackson
Reynolds, Chevrolet made two prototype 70 Monte Carlo convertibles. They WERE NOT SS cars however. Once decided they would no produce the cars for the general public, they were destroyed.
This particular car was built by a friend of mine in Bloominton, MN. It is likely one of the best conversions I have ever seen and unless you really knew what to look for, you would have a hard time proving it. Even the rear seat and side panels were convertible items that were recovered in the Monte theme. Beautiful car but I never thought it would bring $26,500. B/J advertised it as being one of the actual cars in the Chevrolet brochure........not! Unless that was just my interpretation. |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
The Monte Carlo Convert is a home made car.The factory never made them.
SS427 here knows more about this car.He knows the designer. Is that 427 COPO wood paneled Station Wagon there this year? Did it sell? I wish I had SpeedVision...... |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Do you guys out there know what the maroon 68 Chevelle went for ? I caught tail end last night of B-J but I think muscle cars were done...when are they doing more muscle ????? BKH....those are very rare antenna flags...the guy on e-bay has only a few left....(for the past 2 years !)
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Thanks SS427 for the infor a few years back in collectible car mag/ showed a protoype of a four door Monte Carlo only one was made it to was destroyed When saw the convertible today it realy had me thinking

Re: Barrett-Jackson
It is on again today on Speedvision:
4:00-7:00 pm BARRETT JACKSON AUCTION - Afternoon Session 8:00-10:00 pm BARRETT JACKSON AUCTION - Evening Session |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
You can watch it live at www.barrett-jackson.com/ibid/default.asp Give it time to load. There current car will be displayed on the left. It updates the bidding live. That's how I watched last night after Speedvision quit televising.
#647 1970 Chevelle L-78 Convertible is goes across the block in about 1/2 hour. Could be interesting. #663 1970 Chevelle LS-6 convertible likely in about 1 1/2 hours. [Edited by SS427 (01-19-2002 at 02:14 PM).] |
Re: Barrett-Jackson

Re: Barrett-Jackson

|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Is there a web site with updated results? Their site doesn't show any activity.
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
No Jeff,
I checked too but the barrett site is not updating. I will watch speedvision today and tonight and post the results here of the vehicles I think we have interest in. There are also a couple of members at the auction with laptops so by sunday night we should have a good idea of results. chris |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Just got back, talked to a lot of great people from this site, sorry to have missed you Denis. The ZL1 sold for $114k. The blue '69 sold for $74500.(Charley said it would bring $75). The Russo Steele Auction was very well done. Not the high prices of Barrett. How about that $101k '56 T Bird. Talk about stepping on your ego. It was fun watching the interest in the '67 Yenko!! That guy was really nervous. Charley's friend Dave (ZL1, '69 Yenko, Hemi Cuda etc.) bought it. And yes I did buy a beauiful black on black '67 SS396 Chevelle convert. Charley thinks it is funny since it is a bench seat auto. Ha!Ha!

Re: Barrett-Jackson
So what's gotta go now, Jim? I won't give you any grief about auction car fever. The more you buy, the more cool stuff I have to sell. I'm hoping the black L79 Nova is coming over the bridge to find a new home....
As for other Barrett musclecar action, I watched (on Speedvision this year) a '71 Hemi Charger Superbee, well maintained but unrestored go for $90K, a red '68 GT500KR Convert Shelby go for $104K (! just a grand shy of the all time recorded record for these cars), and the Trapanier-built '57 Ford "Intruder" wagon did $115K. The $101K '56 Tbird is still the ultimate head shaker. I'd hate to write the check for that one after I'd sobered up...... |
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Was the LS-6 Convertible the highest seller amongst the muscle cars? Also, did not see a ZL-1 on the B-J website, only a clone. Which # ZL-1 sold?
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
The ZL1 was at Russo Steele Auction, selling last night. It was a green auto. Seemed very nice but Charley has more info. Not sure which number it was. The '67 L88 Vette bid to $430k but did not sell. Muscle was strong at both auctions, tri 5's are moving up, but the Vette market seemed soft. Shelby anything is also bringing top $'s. Big block stuff really went well. Tom, better think about updating all those appraisals!!! LaDonna said the L79 is going nowhere. The guy that tried to buy it from Spokane was at rhe aution and I had to hold her back (she did not like him trying to talk me out of her car)!!
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson
There was a feature article in Auto Restorer Magazine a while ago regarding a guy who made a hardtop Monte Carlo to a convertible. I donĂt know if the car at BJ was the same one or not. It was pretty good article.
