New Cars posted on web site
Just arrived and Denis just posted them, www.corvettes-musclecars.com: 69 Nickey L88 427 Z28 Camaro, 73 Nickey L88 427 Nova, 71 B/M Phase III 454 Camaro, 69 AMX Super Stock with Dual Factory Cross Ram, look for it under "other" muscle category. Red Yenko Deuce coming next week and will be posted then.
When different Semi Transport Trucks have come, my Neighbor Lady said I need to go to "AA". I said I don't have a drinking problem. She says that she means Autos Anonymous. I told her; oh well, a guy could have worse habits. My wife teased me, saying that I need to go back to the Bering Sea in Alaska to run one of my boats again to payback for buying them. Actually she said I already did that for 30+ years, 20 hours a day when on one of my boats; plus used up 8 of my 9 lives in winter storms on the ocean. The only reason for typing this last part is hoping to avoid criticism for what any guy has, when it is earned the old fashioned way called hard work. I am sure all on this web site work hard to support their car hobby as well. Kevin. |
Re: New Cars posted on web site
Kevin, love that Nickey drag car. It looks great now that it is finished. I am glad to see more cars restored that way. Is your theme song "Moving on Up" it should be, you deserve whatever you have today. I am assuming you were a fisherman as I know a friend of mine used up 8 of his 9 lives on the Bering Sea fishing for king crab and he said he would rather stay a Marine and go back to the Persian Gulf to fight that nut intead of fishing. He said he had a better chance of living....RatPack..........

An amazing collection! I am glad that you can enjoy everything that you have earned.

Re: New Cars posted on web site
Kevin is the '73 Nickey Nova the same one featured in a 1973 issue of Hot Rod? I don't recall the exact issue, but believe there is a cop on the cover standing next to the car.

Re: New Cars posted on web site
Awesome collection of cars you have. I have been to your site many times over the past year or so looking at the cars. I enjoy reading the history on the cars as much as looking at the pictures...thanks for sharing your collection with us.

Re: New Cars posted on web site
Kevin, not sure what you fish for but I saw a special on TV...can't remember what show but it was about the 10 most dangerous occupations...your businees was either on top or right up there.Saw another program somewhere where they followed a guy who was crabbing in Alaska. You guys are nuts.It seems they didnt really sleep till they got home...IF they got home...the storms were unreal..the kid they were following on the program was new to it.If he wasn't on the verge of going overboard,he was dodging swinging crab cages ....you should get 2 cars after every trip !!!

Re: New Cars posted on web site
Kevin,
Congrats on your new cars. I think that the Nickey Z is really neat, many of the guys that come to the track (that I work at) are focusing in on doing more "period correct" restos, meaning if the car was set up originally to be a drag car, they restore it by building it as a drag car. Jerry MacNeish was just over with us at RP this weekend with Dave Strickler's "Old Reliable" '68 Z28 running the car in NHRA Stock Eliminator and people just get really excited to see the car doing what it was originally built for. I think that having the Nickey Z restored the way it was is the right idea. Jerry ran a 11.19 in the quarter and was the fastest first gen Z there. Hey Jerry was wearing a "Super Car Workshop" T-shirt, he is a Brian Henderson fan. Andrew https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif |
Re: New Cars posted on web site
Had a busy weekend with car show. I'll respond to all in one post here. Ratpack and Belair Bob, yes it is crab fishing in the Bering Sea. There are several documentaries on the Discovery Channel in which you can see glimpses of a couple of my boats in the background. My boats are between 116' and 138' in length. It is listed as the #1 most dangerous occupation, and I can relate to that just feeling lucky to be alive today. I could type pages of stories on this, but this is a car web site and talking about cars is more pleasurable.
Chevy454 and COPO Charlie, the Nickey Nova was Reggie's previously. Not on the cover of the 73 Hot Rod magazine though, as that one was orange with black vinyl top. Sixtiesmuscle Mike got it from Reggie, and Mike is whom I got the Nickey Camaro and Nova from. Mike was the Nickey "King" having 4 Nickeys at one time. He was kind enough to let loose of these two. he had some other new acquistions and out of room. Thanks Mike! I'll try to reciprocate some day. To everyone else, I as well as Denis the "web master" appreciate the positive comments on the website. Kevin |
Re: New Cars posted on web site
Kevin,
I am interested in hearing more about the Nickey L-88 Z-28. Would you please tell us the history of the car? Check out this site too, the models are neat! http://www.exactdetail.com/NickeyDrag.htm Andrew |
Re: New Cars posted on web site
Thanks for the mention Kevin. I know you were hot to have a Supercar "Chicago Style", so, who better to get those two than you. They are certainly in good company now with your other fabulous cars. Mike

Re: New Cars posted on web site
Brian, that sounds pretty good, I'd like one of those Super Car Tees. How do I go about getting one. On the Nickey Drag car as you, Andrew, and others asked about; I'll type what I know about it. It is still on the original Nickey MSO and was never titled for the street. It's only use of course, was the Drag Strip. Don Swiatek who was the head Nickey's Hi-Performance Department inspected this car to verify it. To the best of his knowledge, he only recalled 2 Z28 427 L88 cars; this one which ended up in Pennsylvania and another that went to Nova Scotia. Mike restored it keeping it in Drag Strip trim pretty much as it was. Radio-Heater delete and the car was lightened up with removal of wiper motors assemlby, discs to drum brakes, even window track assemblies removed, etc. The window tracks were put back in though. All the period correct performance equipment such headers, mallory ignition, flex fan, etc, were repeated. Frame connectors are still on it, as they were installed very sanitary without chopping into the floor. Have one vintage photo of the car leaving the line at Maple Grove Dragway with the front tires a few inches in the air.
