1966 chevelle convertible easy project

they are always easy projects right, lol. anyway what we got here is a California car until 2008 when i purchased it and drove home to Illinois. car had absolutely ZERO rust with original paint {very, very sun burnt and thin} drove it this way until about 2016-17. decided to have it painted and do a interior as it was in pretty bad shape. well it landed in body shop jail for way to long and the owner locked the doors to the shop and split town. car was original marina blue all ppg products with black bucker seat interior. had it repainted back to its original f-f marina blue but changed the interior to bright blue. interior is all legendary products. pulled original sbc and replaced with gm crate engine {350 290hp} and installed rebuilt wide ratio muncie. these parts are all new. bumpers and all trim, new front windshield, new pressure plate, flywheel, clutch, radiator, weiand alum waterpump, new front springs and rear springs, what needs to be done. rad, engine, trans need fluids, dizzy needs dropped to number 1, {i just popped it in} windshield needs to be glued in. rear interior well sheetmetal needs upholstery glued on{have correct material just did not install it}. rear convertible pinch weld stainless is not clipped in as it could use a good polishing. have a correct 1966 chevelle 12 bolt posi 3.36 that i will let go for $500 to buyer. $27,000

put 5-10,000 into it snd sell it for 50-60,000 nice car!

Charlierogers 01-29-2026 10:59 PM

someone will get a great deal on this. it really is a nice honest car with no rust/rot, bondo hiding under the paint car. only selling because i have a really bad taste in my mouth after the first body shop nightmare! i also have too many other play cars.

You..are selling.. your Wifes car...???... :eek2:

There is one in my garage.. that Jani makes it very clear..to anyone..that it's a package deal. Where the car goes, she goes with it.

Fortunately they are both keepers.

That is the deal of 2026 so far, and close to home. I shared it with a couple friends.

just remembered a few things on Chevelle that need attention/done. grill needs to be secured. it has the rivets set in and not punched. or you could use screws. lower rad hose was older one i pulled off when i tore car down {it worked fine and was in good shape}. it could use new window felts. it has new master cylinder but needs to be bled. original am radio worked before paint but stock speaker was/is shot. could use new rear shocks. car drove /stopped great before tear down.
charlie.

here is what the floors looked like. it was so nice to see floors/frame so clean and dry. around the midwest our cars are loaded and i mean loaded with filler or rotted everywhere. ohh i just remembered i installed a new heater core and lubed all cables for heat/vents.

i know, and i would be hard pressed to find one this solid again without paying a fortune for.
this one is just stained in a very bad way to me after the first body shop 2 year ordeal {that was partly my fault as i know how these deals go sometimes}. bodyshop sold or lost hood, bumpers, pass fender, front fenderwells, mint console, new windshield and other misc smalls. than dealing with police to get my stuff back. we had a ton of fun in it for9-10 years and i have 4 other play cars. one is a KILLER gasser project.

----My wonderful, forgiving wife, Jan, has 2 collector cars, her 66 Vette and her Fiat Jolly. Both have been featured on this great sight. I tell people that when her name is on the title, it's like the roach hotel. They go in and never leave,,,LOL!!!....Bill S

Charlie and Theresa are great friends and a diehard car couple. They have done everything from car shows, touring events, road racing ,drag racing ,even street racing in Mexico .

They both wrench on their own cars. Just about the only thing he can’t do is beat me in a competitive event.

You can trust anything he has to say about a car and he is overly critical. You will always get the straight scoop from him, whether or not you want to hear it! They have had everything from MCACN concours gold winners to daily drivers.

Hey Stefano, Theresa here. Thank you so much for the kind words. They mean a lot, sincerely! Charlie is out of commission today, but I know he will feel the same! He's going to especially love the competitive challenge - but you know that already!! LOL :) I look forward to getting together with the Nickey crew this spring & hitting the track again! It's always a great time!! xoxo
