Old man apparently out of touch.

While in Az I had two different younger people ask me if I bought anything at Barrett-Jackson. I told them I bought two Taco’s. Each then wanted to know about the Tacoma’s. No. I bought and ate two Taco’s!

Young people are like that...everything has to be an abbreviated or acronym name now. I have heard guys taking about their Merc's and I asked what year and model. They would rattle off some numbers and a year and I'm like, huh, Mercury went out of business MANY years ago....oh...you mean Mercedes, as in German...:rolleyes2:

The older I get the more I sound like these two guys:

I didn't even know that was a nickname for those trucks.

NO friggen clue what that is supposed to mean....
I have a Toyota Highlander now and I've heard them call HL's, Landers, etc. 1 guy I barely know asked how my Toy-o was working and replied "I don't know, you'll have to ask my wife if it's still working good"....

I'm sure this thread is getting real close to the "OK Boomer" level.

It's funny that you are complaining about guys abbreviating Mercedes with "Merc",.... while,.........you are abbreviating Mercury with "Merc". Lol.

But, you are correct,....everything is abbreviated nowadays.

FTC 02-02-2026 06:54 PM

The one I hate the most when texting or emailing,...or even conversing on forums is,....when someone responds to you with ...."K".

It's not enough to already be abbreviating the work "okay" with two letters... "OK'.

But now you have to shorten it to one letter... "K" ?

It makes me feel the person replying with that couldn't care any less about responding to you.

What's funny is your username, 67since67, considering how that number is used by the kids these days. Tell them you were cool before they even know what was cool, lol.
