Not a good day for that buyer.

Rsconv68 01-27-2026 03:28 AM

I watched that one to the end. He was buying that car regardless. Thinking there are drugs in the frame rails or rockers….#French Connection

I watched that also and could not believe the price it brought but at least on the TV it looked like a good vehicle. Your few pics display an ugly automobile under the surface.
Unbelievable.....

Interesting exhaust system for a Lincoln...but not the least of its problems.

Absolutely mid-boggling that turd rolled in glitter brought in 7-figures. I tell ya, if a fella could sell one or two of those in a lifetime he’d be sitting on early retirement.

Ouch!!!!!..........That's what all the free Liquor is for!!!!

SS427 01-27-2026 04:44 PM

There is a LOT more to the story with some of these cars than someone just paying too much for a POS.

lycan 01-27-2026 08:57 PM

Does everyone with a 66 Lincoln in their garage think they're sitting on a million $$ car now?
;) :)

----Anyone notice that the POS had a salvage title?....Bill S

Anyone want a 71? I'll sell my grandad's Continental cheap (for 1/2 of 1/2 that amount!) :cool2:

Money comes and goes, but having your grandads car is priceless.:beers:

The funny thing is that he was a behind-the-scenes, financial genius at ABC. He was the consummate deal-maker. Every TV show he gave the go-ahead for became legendary: The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Mod Squad, Wide World of Sports, Charlies Angels, to name a few. He would not comprehend keeping something like that around when its value could be put to use.

He would be the first one to smack me upside the head and say: "You Meshugenah! You mean you tell me that could sell my old work car and invest the returns for my great-grandchildren's financial benefit and you're not doing that? Don't make me tell Gramma Rose about this! Such a troublemaker you are!" :scholar:

And he'd be smiling the entire time he said it, with a wink in his eye.

There is now a video by a guy that tells you where it was before and for sale for around 90K. A guy bought it , installed the Coyote engine and interior. The brought it to Barrett.

The buyer of the $1M Continental looked like he just graduated from Geek Squad school.

A buyer that doesn't do their due diligence or have a clue what they are doing, gets what they deserve...:rolleyes2:
Who was the other "person" bidding against him ?? The owners shill bidder ? Or are there 2, um, I'll call them uninformed people.

cheveslakr 01-30-2026 02:58 AM

that town car is really neat!! My dad's cousin had lincolns as long as I can remember and had one same colors as that. Even though we all loved sporty cars, that big boat always got our respect.

The cars are run at no reserve. There is no shill in this situation needed. While I did watch the bidder on this car, I do not know the particulars. However; a scenario which is called ‘running the bid’……wherein the auction keeps hitting you for a bid when there is no other bid. If the house / auction goes past the only bidders number then they back up the bid to that number and make it seem like just a simple mistake.

Once you are aware of this auction tactic you will see it employed often.

There's serious money laundering going on within our hobby, and way too many people with blinders on letting it happen. Seriously, can anyone come up with one reason as to why a person would spend 7 digits on that car that included the word legitimate?

Alcohol or some other illicits?!

SBR 02-03-2026 02:37 AM

I would bet that the guy who bought this car did not read the "cautionary notes for auction bidders thread" I may be wrong but it sure looked like he got taken for a "ride"
