69 Z sold new in Boise IDaho
3 Attachment(s)
Spent it's life in Nampa. Orig. owner blew up the engine in 71, took it out to rebuild it and it sat until about 5 years ago when his friend in Az bought it after the owner had passed. Was listed on Craigs list last week in Tempe. Went and saw it Friday and fell in love with it. Fella selling it was Chris and is a really nice guy. He had the engine and trans rebuilt and started acquiring parts but came to the conclusion he wasn't going to get it finished so listed it. 9100 orig. miles. Has some rattle canning under the hood but beautiful paint and and about the nicest white interior I have seen. Early Van Nuys car with build sheet and a replacement protecto Plate. Orig owner had taken the chambered exhaust off and saved it. Orig. owner had bolted on a rear spoiler but I just removed it.

W:eek2:W car Charley, it’s lucky it found you too! Big congrats also thanks for turfing that rear spoiler, car looks 10x better without. Firebird Raceway is still in operation, you’ll have to take the car back for a few passes… https://firebirdonline.com/news/first-drag-race-1968/ :beers: ~ Pete . |
That's cool!!!
|
Man Charley, you are definitely on a roll!!! Congrats.
Nicest original trunk I have ever seen. Love that it has flat hood, no spoilers, console, but no gauges and no tach!!!!! That is LIKELY why OO blew the motor. If you have ever run a Z flat out through the gears, you know it JUST KEEPS ON PULLING, unlike most cars of the era. The L48 started to taper off at 5200 rpm, so one would instinctively shift. Not the Z. Just keeps going. Of course, now Charley is going to post a pic of the aftermarket tach that was clamped to the steering column just to prove my theory wrong. Great car. Always loved DY with black top and black stripes; bumble bee car. |
it was on CL??? CRAZEEEE

Very cool Charley! Congrats...:headbang:

5 HRs away from me for all those Years!!! WOW!!

That Trunk Paint is AMAZING! (LOS)

Congrats Charley, what a find. Has to be one of the lowest mileage in existence. I see Legends judging in your future. Enjoy!

Missing one head Pipe but Chris found some old Walker pipes with nice GM style bends that I can make work if I can’t find the original.

All original glass, paint, body panels and vinyl top?
Any replacements or touch ups? |
Yes on glass, top and body panels. Some touch up but hard to pinpoint.
|
What a cool car, Charley. I love seeing all the correctly dated parts and even the original battery. Send the battery to me and I'll get the guts out of it and put a sealed battery inside. You can tell it's original due to the ENERGIZER wording below the word Delco.
