69 Yenko Nova...
I saw this car mentioned on the Nova Site....
https://www.mecum.com/lots/1155415/1...aa_id=717096-0 I'm no expert, but a lot of this info appears incorrect to me...like this: Powered by the 427/450 HP L72 V-8, factory-installed under Chevrolet’s Central Office Production Order program for dealer Don Yenko, |
I’d like to hear more about this collection in general. Anyone have info on the rally green Camaro?

Factory 427 of course incorrect but Mrays noted some info on 114279W467990 coming to auction from Cliff Ernst’s collection as below from his posting last month as this link… https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1684195 :beers: ~ Pete . |

Thanks Pete, I meant from the guys here that know the car. It doesn’t say anything about drivetrain originality sheet metal etc. but also not trying to highjack this thread so if anyone knows the cars well maybe send me a message. Thanks

Best nab the Vin of anything interesting and Google it alone. If multi hits, add “yenko.net” to the search for past threads Vin was noted here. :beers: ~ Pete . |

Here's the trim tag for the Nova. Anyone spot any issues with it?

Very crisp

I've been told the trim tag is a reproduction. It was supposedly a Lemans Blue car with a black vinyl top. There is supposedly paperwork to back this up, but I have not seen it. Cliff added the bucket seats and console. I'm not knocking the car as it is a very real and rare Yenko Nova and will rightfully command a monster number at Mecum in a couple of weeks.

Yenko Nova...
Not sure I understand a repro trim tag on a car like this :dunno:
Weren't most of the cars bench seat models..?? -wilma |
I was thinking the same thing Wilma. Why would someone change a TT on a high end Super Car like this. Maybe they just wanted a color change 🤷*♂️.
|
The trim tag was missing when Cliff traded for the car. The interior is all wrong but I doubt he knew better when it was restored.
|
from what i was told, the car was found as a yellow race car and had no interior , just one racing seat and roll cage.
The firewall was stripped out (no heater, no wiper motor) and it had a piece of aluminum covering the holes. Some say the car should have a bench seat interior Warren has paperwork on it |

I was at the auction yesterday. It sure was a pleasure to see a car like this in person being a nova enthusiast. But I'm not going to lie, I was very disappointed. Don't get me wrong car looks amazing. Hood was down when I walked around it. When I looked inside the drivers side window, I saw bucket seats console and a 5k redline tach. Hmm maybe it started out as a SB car. It was hard to tell in the lighting, but I think the lettering for the speedometer cluster, tach and gauges were white not light green like what was used on 68-69 novas. That right there made my eyebrows raise.

I'm by no means an expert on Trim Tags, but the rivets certainly aren't original.
|
We have already acknowledged that the trim tag was missing when Cliff acquired the car, so no surprise that there could replacement rivets used. I for one would be more concerned with the other discrepancies than the rivets.
|
Back when Cliff acquired the Nova, very little was known about them. It was a gutted race car missing it’s original trim tag. It is easy to understand the restoration inconsistencies from the time period. Wrong color, wrong interior, wrong dash………today it is one of the few real deal 427 conversion cars with pedigree and paperwork. I can think of a few ZL1 and Yenko Camaros that were found in similar circumstances, but their as delivered info was known and public info.
