'69 #s 435hp Day 2 Corvette, 14k Miles
Doesn't get much sweeter than this combo. Unfortunately this one was repainted decades ago, in Imron no less, but other than that it's a very cool unrestored car.

I do like the way that car looks.

----Not a bad old 69, but what's up with both the missing PCV valve and hose, as well as the drivers side valve cover fitting and hose to the air cleaner? Oh, and someone got a bit heavy with the rattle can black under the hood....Bill S

I find it very interesting…(but not as a buyer…:) ). W

For a split second my heart went yikes when I saw this Black ‘69 with slots on it.
Similar, but my ‘69 had a more customized look to it back in 1974. Built by Dick Fernando in Gillespie, Illinois. I loved this car …… wicked fast. |
Am I correct in remembering that that '69 was featured in a Vette issue of Hot Rod Magazine back in the 70's? I remember the FI unit.

Two other guys later built copies of this Black example. One was White with Red interior and FI. The other was built by my late good friend Bob Smith from Springfield, Illinois. Bob’s car was a ‘72 in Elkhart Green with FI pictured below. All three of these cars were at the Bloomington show one year and they drew a crowd. |

This car and Dave Ankenbauer's '72 Phase-III 454 Corvette were the inspiration on how I built my corvette. The stance and look of that black vette are perfect in my eyes.

Here's my version that I purchased in college. It was a daily driver in rain, snow or sunshine.

This car seemed to be the center of attention every time I took it out. That was back in the 70’s. Today, it’s all about factory Original Survivors for me. BTW, I removed the Fuel Injection unit and replaced it with a carburetor and sold the car. That FI and a mint Teak Wheel moved to California with me in ‘78. |
Do you still have the wheel and fi unit?
|
What year is the fi unit and what intake manifold is that? Did you chrome everything yourself? Also, what motor is in it? Thought the car was a big block but looks like mouse motor. That’s why I asked what manifold cause I thought it was a big block cause of the hood.Love the detail!

The FI unit was sold decades ago. The engine under that FI was a ‘70 LT1 with the Hooker Headers. That combination was very quick. |
Oh man, all of these custom early C3's scratch my itch. I love those polished slots, side pipes and custom touches. You all had some killer Vettes and I'm jealous.

Here is my late brother with his 71 back in about 1974. That look and stance was very common on C-3’s back then. The red back window in his car was always a great conversation piece too.

The Imron paint isn't that big of a deal. It isn't the high end paint, but it IS more durable than lacquer. For a garaged car, probably a 50 year (or more) paint job. |
Ditto on leaving the valve train wide open to the elements.....oversight for a quick photo or has it been that way for awhile? Who knows?

Always garaged my corvettes as they were used sparingly. That Nova was a White four door model. The first photo I posted of the Black Vette shows a 1961 Blue Pontiac four door in the background. That was another work car I had at the time. Funny thing about this Pontiac. I paid $75.00 for the car and sold it to a buddy for a case of beer. The car was a smoker. |
