our long term test Silverado...

Welp, last Tuesday, on the last day of SoCal Chevy Truck Month, I began our long term test...
Congrats Anthony!
Nice!!
Very nice Anthony.....enjoy!!
Nice looking truck. Hope it doesn't have the turbo 4...
For better or worse... it does. Since this replaced the Honda daily driver, Mrs. Anthony was only interested in "not another V8" - and honestly, it's peppy enough for what I require really. And the whistle entertains the kids... and kid in me.
She may regret that comment if the mileage is as bad as many I hear about. Hope it all works out for you.
You mean the MPG? It was delivered to me with 2 miles on the odometer and a full tank of gas and my first top up at 340 miles was 17.61 gallons. That maths to 19.19 mpg. I was pleased with that!
People say the turbomax gets pretty good gas mileage, and it uses 87 to boot.
YES! 87 is fine, recommended in fact...
I have a 2024 Silverado regular cab 4cyl and i get 10 to 11 mpg all city driving
Congrats!!
Nice truck!! Congrats!!
I hope you post some updates, I was thinking to get one with the Turbomax as a daily.
2027 will be a totally restyled vehicle, I plan on ordering one next year
How long does your long term test run for? Mine's been going for 30 years now.

I have the turbo 4, it’s a lease, it’s great.
What sucks are the trans these days, it’s always under shifting. |

Hey Gang, been busy this week running around.
Haven't had time for updates, but yes, I certainly plan to keep the updates coming with our experiences. So far, so good. In ten days I've logged just about 1400 miles; on my fourth tank of 87 now. So, 1392 miles on three tanks and assuming a useage of all 24 gallons in each, that maths to about 19.33 mpg. Very satisfied with that number. More soon, cheers all. Anthony |
That's pretty solid. My 5.3 Sierra crew cab gets around 18 with mixed city/hwy driving.

Hi Gang,
I thought it was about time for an update: Around the last update, I took a rock or lug nut or something to the driver's side front windshield, just at the A pillar... it was at highway speed and was VERY loud and I got a slight spray of glass dust in the cab... After getting a quote, I opted to go through insurance, these pieces of glass are NOT cheap to replace. Anyway, no big deal there. My only other observations to date are just that, not really issues per se, and certainly not complaints. First, there's no boost gauge, no light, nothing, you have to listen for the turbo... And secondly, the radio on off button / volume knob is in the exact geographical center of the dash - it's not biased toward the driver at all... very curious. It continues to give me 19.0X MPG! Mixed driving. And I average about 25MPH when it's running... So, nothing but good to report after 8113 miles in 4.5 months. Very happy. Cheers all, Anthony |
