My Unrestored Cameo Ivory ‘66 GTO

It’s been 6 years since I introduced this GTO to the The Supercar Registry with my opening story in 08-04-2019 and 34 years since I stumbled onto this neglected car in a front yard in Union City, CA

A few photos of how it looked when found in 1991.

Fortunately the owner removed many items and secured them in the trunk for safe keeping.
Unfortunately this guy started removing paint in certain areas and left it to rust as seen especially on the RR quarter panel.

I recently uncovered it for some fresh air and a brisk exercise through all 2 gears, lol.
This thing rips with three Rochester’s full throat with a 3.55 axle.

Here are some walk around photos from a few weeks ago.

Plenty of sun bake on the top side and patina throughout.
I did what I thought was necessary in 1991 to stop the rust from spreading by a primitive spray of Cameo paint.
The factory Red pinstripes are still there unblemished.

I love the Rally I wheels with their 6 flared openings.
Still retains its factory dated rear drums.

Full correct exhaust system from Gardner with my NOS resonators.

Factory trunk light.

Hope you enjoyed the walk around of an old muscle car.:flag:

I never tire of looking at your GTO's Chris.
This one needs to be at MCACN 2026 for Class of '66....OR...Vintage Certification

I love those rally wheels, also. What a great car.

Nice GTO

It is impressive that in 1991 you had the foresight to not have the car repainted but rather just touched up. The originality and patina certainly makes this a cool GTO. Thanks for sharing.

this car is begging for a set of red fender liners.

Thank you Bill.

I’d love to have a ‘show-and-tell’ but the transport there and back is over 4000 miles, plus the rest of overhead.
I envy you Midwest boys as the trip is very affordable.
I’ll just share from afar.

Make your selection as I’m buying.

Oh, I agree!
Unrestored cars are priceless and the knowledge they provide.

Thanks.

Marty,
A collectible automobile with 90% factory paint needs to be preserved as this one.
To paint a car like this would be a sin in my book.

Thank you!

SPEEDYB 08-17-2025 06:51 AM

Great

Hawkeye 08-17-2025 01:37 PM

Total agree

The look.. feel and smell of an original car cannot be replicated.

Super nice original interior considering how it was stored prior to you getting it.

Such a cool car, I hope to go for a ride in that bitchin '66 someday!

markinnaples 09-05-2025 06:51 PM

Such a time capsule, and, I think, just the type of car that most of us would love to be able to find that hasn't been restored or tore up from 20+ previous owners. Congrats on a beautiful '66.

Thank you!

I have substantial evidence showing I’m the 5th owner, although there may have been one other owner in the 70’s.

Everyone took good care of this ‘66 except the guy I bought it from (as shown in the 7 photos of ignored state).
I’m happy I was able to give it a good home.
