Vintage Certification™ is again proud and excited to be a part of the MCACN experience, hard to believe it's our 14th year at this show and 24th anniversary of Vintage Certification program. By now everyone should know this is a must attend event. Come Join Us and have your car Vintage Certified at MCACN Nov 18th & 19th in Chicago

Vintage Certification™ is a judging program whose sole purpose is to recognize, provide status, provenance, and promote un-restored (survivor) vehicles. We believe it is the only program that focuses on documenting and benchmarking these cars. Our core certification team consists of Brett Merryman, Paul Martin, Lloyd Costley, Steve Minore, Chris White, Scott Tiemann, Frank Badalson, Marty Burke, Jason Billups, John Ballard, Jeff Cook, Steve Shauger, Jody Anderson, Tom Migut, Alex Sahely, Bob Perkins and other marque specialists based on make and model. Each core team member possesses over 30 years' experience as restorers, collectors, historians and judges in the hobby. Typically, we spend 3hrs examining in detail every segment of your car including the underbody on a lift. To learn more about Vintage Certification visit our website at www.vintagecertification.com or the MCACN website at www.mcacn.com. This is the perfect venue to have your vehicle certified. You will be among and exclusive group of enthusiasts who participate in this exciting event.

We understand not every original car is 100% untouched, and we offer five levels of certification, based on the originality of the Vehicle.
Vintage Certifications™ five divisions:

Vintage Time Capsule - Vehicles that are 95+% unrestored in all reference areas
Vintage Legend - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in all reference areas.
Vintage Heritage - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in five reference areas.
Vintage Legacy - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in four reference areas
Vintage Reference - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in three reference area.

Reference Areas: Certification consists of two areas of consideration, Originality and Preservation. Reference areas are as follows:

• Engine Compartment Area
• Exterior Body
• Interior Body
• Underbody
• Trunk (except Corvette)

This year's Vintage participation requests have been overwhelming. We were essentially full by April. We are above our previous limit, but our team is up to the task.

We are now accepting applications for 2024. We have limited certification slots available and suggest you apply early before they are filled. If you are interested or have questions call or visit our website at: www.vintagecertification.com for more info such as, rules and guidelines and downloadable application.

Not sure how it was missing. I added two cars recently which shouldn't delete any. I put the 70.5 Z28 back up.

Looks like another stellar lineup. Always my favorite part of the show. Thanks to those that participate and put this together.

That Chevy II was amazing, I wish I saw it on the lift.

Charley Lillard 11-22-2023 01:10 PM

The 73 Z and the L78 Camaro on the lifts were actually restored cars and in Legends judging so there is no confusion. The Chevy 2 was amazing.

Bill
When we inspected this car at MCACN in 2022 we found blue paint in the trunk that had transferred from the headers to the trunk floor, likely while in transit. The paint matched the headers, sio we safely concluded these were the factory supplied headers, shipped with the car.
The original exhaust manifolds were there as well, in pristine condition with about 15 inches of exhaust header pipe attached. Probably removed on day 2.

RPO Z284; would be header/cowl plenum equipped from the factory.

Z28 with ECL BA= Z28 without either.
Z28with ECL BB= air plenum only
Z28 with ECL BC= headers only
Z28 with ECL BD= headers and cowl plenum(refer to window sticker pictured)

There were 4 Z28 ECL combination as represented above.

Photos of the original exhaust manifolds including the heat riser and head pipe cut offs that were in the trunk when we inspected the car. They were likely delivery date take offs as the they showed no signs of any wear, dis-coloring or carbon accumulation. Note the original white-asbestos donut and (correct) clocking of the heat riser valve. I may have photos of the installed headers, will have a look.

Hopefully forthcoming photos of the 1970 Z28? Love the originality of the Deuce. Thanks for this effort.

Great photos in this thread! Of particular interest to me are the 67 Camaros pics especially the one’s shining light on the “67 Z28 mysteries (to me)”.

Thank you Lloyd!

Edgemontvillage 02-07-2024 04:46 AM

Thank you all for the feedback, its a unique privilege to photograph and certify these cars. There is never enough time to do them justice of course nor to photographically capture all the intricacies that make them special - details are bound to be overlooked. They are all remarkable.

TimG 02-07-2024 12:42 PM

All great cars and great owners. It's hard to imagine Hi Performance cars like these survived.

napa68 02-09-2024 09:21 PM

I'm going through these pics once again. I gotta say, I'm just in awe! Thank you again to the Vintage Certification team for documenting all of this and sharing. The hobby is better for it!

SBR 02-10-2024 11:03 PM

Thank you so much for posting these pictures of these amazing cars. As much as I love seeing a beautifully restored car, there is absolutely nothing that compares to a true time capsule.
