CONGRAPTU...GONGRAFUL...CONGRAJULAYSHUNS! Man, I'm so excited I'm choking on my own enthusiasm here..... Cheers Dave |
That is an awesome build on that car. What were the build hours and time frame from start to finish. I also like the blue camaro on the lift!

Per Steve's site.
This Roadster d’ Elegance winner began life as an original Karl Deutsch from Koeln, custom coachbuilt 1937 Ford Cabriolet. A 1937 Ford chassis was first shipped to Grue & Company, a Ford dealership in Copenhagen then sent on to Deutsch for a custom, one only body. SAR’s own David Brost penned an elegant redesign with a European flavor and style taking special care to preserve the uniqueness of the rare Ford. Extensive sheet-metal fabrication was required in the build, and very little of the original body remains such as the rear fenders, the top of the hood, the top reveal lines of the body and the upper portions of the doors. The curvaceous new body lines are accentuated by the hand-formed brass trim and grille all fabricated “in house”. The lift off top was made out of aluminum. The chassis was also designed and built in-house and features independent front and rear suspension and a 514 Ford SVO engine riding on 17’s and 20’s. The entire car was built at SAR and in only 15 months. |
Dave (A12Pilot) should look at the fabrication pics in the link.

Holy Frijolies! Love that build photo link. The guys holding that roof going through the English wheel. :headbang::worship: I was struggling with parts a quarter of the size! True artistic talent and it shows.:cool2:
Inspiration at its finest. Gonna have to get a trip to Charleyfornia and see this in person. Yowza! Cheers Dave |

Did this car compete for the Ridler Award Charlie? What an incredible automobile! Has this car/will this car actually be driven on the street? |

Very cool Charley! Nice addition to your garage.
I see that the VW made it to AZ safely, too! |
Congrats! Beautiful ride, love the color. I hope you get out and enjoy it (monitor the Kraftsoff level though).
|
Cool, too darn! GNRS in a few days ...? Not walking distance, but you've got a car. Good score!!
|
Alan Budnik recently converted it to EFI. I drove it about 10 miles home yesterday and it drove great but had to jump on a plane back to Ca so had no time to explore it. Has a huge oil pan. I can't find any specs on the Ford Motorsports 514" crate engine but supposed to be making 500+ at the wheels.
|
Very sharp car.
|
Nice! ... so much for not buying anything.
|
Stunning for sure - congratulations.
|
Seeing the metalwork alone is stunning.
|
Holy crap that’s cool! Congrats!!
|
Was just told it just missed winning Americas Most Beautiful Roadster because it didn't have a trunk so they couldn't give any points for trunk condition.
|
Very Kool!

good looking car
|
Looks like it may be a challenge putting an all electric power train and batteries in there.
Congrats. |
You think this car looks good in pictures,
in person its really unreal. The former owner used to drive it to Malibu cars and coffee regularly. I was shocked the first time I saw it there. |
great build pics, its a work of art. I will say I would rate the wheels on the original build a 3 out of 10 (being nice) and the ones on it now 11 out of 10. props to who made that change to make the whole car perfect.
