Whoa, that stuff is cooooolllll!
|
Notice that the promo picture for the 1973 SD-455 Trans Am is not a 1973 Firebird. Wrong grille and appears to have the wrong interior pattern for a '73.
Cool stuff though, thanks for sharing. |

Not the first time Pontiac has done that. There are a handful of promo photos of this "1971" GTO. But it's really a 1970 with the 1971 front end. |
Okay……a 1971 and 1970 GTO are basically the same except for the front clip. The only difference on the ‘71 I recall are a rear bumper with notches for bumper guards, seat upholstery, door panels, dash bezel and optional honeycomb wheels.

Same model. Same car. And I think (???) this color was not available in 1971. Please someone correct me if I am wrong |

https://i.postimg.cc/sDbSYtGT/0.jpg Remember - the ads/brochures have to be completed before production actually starts. I've only seen those wheels once - on a 1970 GTO show car Pontiac built: https://i.postimg.cc/KY2MVBNL/0.jpg |
|
These photos - the TA and the GTO - they were given to dealers to show them the new models before they hit the showroom floor. And as we've seen - they are cars cobbled together then photographed.

jim used to give you one of these promo photos when you ordered your PHS packet. i think that stopped once pontiac wasnt involved anymore.
