I have a friend in Austin that is relatively new to the hobby, and he has been consistently purchasing cars for the last five or so years. Everything he purchases he runs by me for approval. There was a Corvette Bronze 1970 for sale on this site a while back and I called and let him know it was a good car, he bought it and it was a GREAT car. The seller contacted him about two weeks ago with another 1970 he had for sale. A Monza Red/tan interior base motor coupe with 17,000 miles. My friend ran everything by me and I let him know he should buy the car, and if not, I'd like to own it. With my Scarab recently selling on BaT, I have room in the garage and you all know what that means. I wasn't interested in buying a real expensive Corvette, but what do you get nowadays unless you want to write a big check. The red/tan car arrived on Saturday and I saw it and fell instantly in love with the car. Without going into the details, my friend offered to sell me the car as he could tell I wanted to make a great car better. This was his way of thanking me for helping buy Corvettes over the years. This is one of the prettiest Corvettes I've ever seen, virtually no options, no smog, Harrison small aluminum radiator with expansion tank like a midyear small block.

Beauty Tim! Congrats!!!

I’ll post some more today, Bill. I’ve always been a fan of low option cars. I don’t know why.

Low option cars are cool 😎, and easy to work on.

I sent the tank sticker off for validation. Actually, this document was found in the dash. I looked yesterday and the tank sticker is still on the tank and looks good.

Nice car!! Less is more!!!

njsteve 04-25-2022 07:26 PM

Frenchtown NJ is around 15 miles from me!

That former dealer's location seems to have had some toxic waste problems:

Funny how some dealerships had "toxic" waste problems. Heinrich Chevrolets former location on Lake Avenue in Rochester, NY had some court stuff going on about the toxicity of the land.

The interior lost no points in recent NCRS judging.

olredalert 04-26-2022 02:42 PM

----Wow! Gorgeous gut! It's really hard to keep that comfort weave that clean. Plus the carpet looks new, and the steering wheel looks like it came out of a box. Just a near perfect Corvette, Tim.....Bill S

.....Also just noticed how good the map pocket is. They are usually all deformed from people stuffing too much in to them!

TimG 04-26-2022 03:02 PM

I agree, Bill. I've had my share of C3's with worn interior. I'm amazed that an interior this light in color has been preserved so well.

MosportGreen66 04-26-2022 08:45 PM

Looks very nice Tim! Hard to find an honest chrome bumper cream puff nowadays!

firstgenaddict 04-30-2022 07:38 PM

GREAT CAR TIM!
One of my local buddies just picked up a really nice BLUE BLUE 70 L46 coupe with 46k original miles out of AZ originally. Orig interior repaint in lacquer during the 1980's which looks as good as a 40 y/o garage kept car with a GORGEOUS frame.

I put a set of never mounted PO2 wheel covers on the '70. Three of the boxes had never been opened and they were dated August 1974. I've always liked the look of PO2 covers with whitewalls.

67since67 04-30-2022 10:05 PM

Seems I always find myself in the minority....but I LOVE PO2's on a C3!! :headbang:

ZiggyL78 05-03-2022 02:23 AM

Incredible car. Congrats!

SBR 05-03-2022 02:36 AM

Tim, I can't get over how beautiful that interior is. I love it!

Nah, not minority, just different. I prefer them over KO's any day.
BUT Tim's wheel covers seem to be seconds. With the stem holes at the bottom, as they should be, ALL the flags are upside down... Can the center caps be rotated on these ?? How do you set up at a show and not have this anomaly grabbing attention ?
OMG, my OCD meter is going nuts...

TimG 05-03-2022 06:33 PM

I’ll check the judging manual. They were manufactured while they were still an option on Corvettes. The center caps are adjustable.

TimG 05-03-2022 07:49 PM

Nothing mentioned about orientation of the flags in relation to the holes in the most recent judging manual. I'll research this, though.

Too Many Projects 05-03-2022 10:19 PM

I was just teasing, Tim, but things like that seem to attract my attention and then it bugs me. I always align hub/wheel caps with the stem down, if at all possible. Just call me nuts...

TimG 05-04-2022 12:21 PM

Mitch, I love it. Now you have me searching to see it they are correctly mounted.
