Interesting '69 Camaro #s L78, Burnished Brown

Cool color with a good looking trim tag. Looks like the block has been decked at some point but mildly so, and the numbers are still pretty legible. Does this VIN (124379N599390) still fall within the timeframe when Norwood was stamping partials on the deck versus at the bellhousing flange?

Wondering what's going on with the vinyl trim 'halo' stainless - almost looks like the clips were reinstalled in the wrong spot and the top is 'receding' more than it ought to.

Nevertheless...I wouldn't kick it out of the garage, if it could be had for the right price.

Passenger side top trim on the sail panel sure looks messed up. Cool car though

Front fenders both are poorly fit and have the common fender droop.
The pad stamping pic doesnt show the whole stamping and that VIN looks like it was added.

Heres the bad fender alignment

----Agree with all the above. Add to that the fact that the color is no where near correct Burnished Brown.....Bill S

Was thinking the same thing Bill, a few shades off for sure.

Camaro SS...

I'm just happy to see the SS emblem on the front grill isn't upside down :smirk:

Billohio 03-31-2022 11:24 PM

What causes the fender sagging like that?

Beat me to it Bill. That is NOT Burnished Brown!

Not even close to BB. It's such a dark brown that it appears black in many pictures. And holy fender droop Batman! If this were a real L78 it would deserve much better.

RSSSfan 04-01-2022 02:38 AM

And yeah, that vinyl top fits like a bad toupee.

Aftermarket fenders. Simply made that way. Seems like the aftermarket SELDOM gets anything right.

They can be made to fit, or at least that's what I hear. Never had to do so myself.

For the novice...how do you tell which way is right side up for SS emblems for grill and sides?

sixt9rsx33 04-02-2022 01:36 AM

My 12C BB 69 had the vin Derivative on the rough casting not on the pad.

scuncio 04-02-2022 12:29 PM

Relisted in the link below for $66k.

You're not kidding about the front fender fit...not a good look.

Pad is a restamp....

olredalert 04-02-2022 08:22 PM

----Wanted to say that, Kurt but the pad is so screwed up I made the choice to wait for someone a bit more "pad friendly"!.....Bill S

I figured this car would eventually get on here.
This is the car I was interested in and reached out to Greg Nugent to see if we could take a look at it.
It was on Pikesville Kentucky and I could have bought it for $45,000. The thing that scared me the most was it had a salvage title. I contacted that dealer when I saw it up for sale and he told me it had a clear title.

Pad is a mess but looks like you can see modern broach marks on it
