Another expensive 69 Z on BAT

Looks like a nicely restored car, and the Fathom Green pops pretty good with the contrasting white stripes and top. I'm normally not a fan of green interiors, but I think it works pretty good on this car. Green comfortweave would have been nice on such a well optioned car.

Anyone want to comment on the placement in the Z/28 emblem in the grille? Seems to be some confusion on the proper placement on RS cars. To me, it just doesn't look "right" that close to the center of the grille.

Looks like the one offered here in the for sale section earlier.

cruiserofland 05-26-2021 08:44 PM

What a stunner. I agree that the badge looks better more to the left of center than it is on this car, but not sure there's agreement about what is "correct."

cruiserofland 05-26-2021 09:54 PM

Sold for $155k! What a market.

I think you are right but the seller deleted the ad :dunno:

I think it was listed for $125K but not totally sure.

Why didn't Jerry mention the placement of the Z28 emblem,as he does
some other significant incorrect things like originally a flat hood,no spoiler, and carrying a '68 deck lid with nearly all the glass wrong, and it still brought 155K.

Were most of the VIN stamps on the LOS cars as nice as this? Maybe the guy was using a 10lb hammer.

Wow....On the this forum last fall

I'm pretty sure this Z/28 was For Sale last fall on this forum and he was asking less than 75K. The market is crazy right now. I believe this is a really nice unique car but 155K ? You got to be kidding me.. Is this not in the range that you could buy a COPO ? I guess with the right marketing and smoke and mirrors anything is possible. I know they are all worth whatever you can get out of them but this is crazy.... I had a chance to buy this car for low 70s last fall. I have been looking for a a nice 69 Z/28 or SS/RS BB over 8 months now and the market is now too crazy for me. I know that spring is the worst time but I never expected that market to just go completely nuts....Just one opinion from an old 69 year dude that once had a 1969 SS/RS and would like to get back in to another one at a reasonable price. I think I'm going to put this project ( bucket list ) on hold for now....Great time to sell, terrible time to buy....These guys paying these prices have more money than they what to do with...I guess I'm just disappointed with myself that i let it get away to a dealer.

I, too, am surprised on the price. Like they say, it only takes two to have a bidding war at an auction! It is correct that this car was advertised on this site last year by me. I did sell it. It is a very nice, very correct, nice docs no BS car. As with any car there were some items that were wrong/changed/so on.
The new owner did take it to the next level with additional work, parts and $$. All in all, I was very impressed with the outcome.
In regards to the photo of the engine VIN stamping, it is just showing the stamping is present in the rough cast. Those pages are from information I put together on the car and it went with the car.
Guess I just wanted to defend the car I was the caretaker of for awhile!!!

If this car sold for $155K then Mark Bulaw’s 1969 Azure Turquoise Z-28 should be worth $300K! Mark’s Z is the best 69 Z I have every seen, and that I have had the luxury to work on, but I’m just saying’. Just a magnificent example of an original Z

If I understand correctly now, the black vin stamp characters were added to picure to identify where it is located.

:o

Yes you are correct. The black numbers are not on the block. As you know seeing and photographing those #s in cast is difficult. The original photo in the numbers book I put together shows it better.

I think the same dealer had another Fathom Green Z on BAT that also sold for well over $100K. I have to give him props that he does an excellent job marketing his cars with excellent photographs, and he goes out of his way to be a responsive seller answering questions promptly. Sometimes that makes all the difference.

1969 Z's in general seem to be going nuts over on BAT. It's strange, because for years some of us jokingly called it "Bring A Porsche" because that was all that seemed to sell for big money on the site.

For the minimal investment to put a car up for auction, and the fact that you can protect yourself with a reserve, it is getting tempting for me to put one of my cars up over there just to see what would happen. I personally don't see this market sustaining itself for the long term.

I have sold several vehicles on BAT over the last year and have been very pleased. Presentation and attentiveness to questions is key.

A friend of mine recently bought a rough 67 Bronco for him and his son to work on together. I told him he shouldn't have any problem getting his investment back with prices like they are now.

Same dealer, second go round.
