Bloomington judging 67-9 Camaros this year!
IS anyone having their first gen Camaro judged at Bloomington Gold this year?
I see this is the first year they are doing F bodies, does anyone know anything else? |
Interesting!

As I understand, there will be some great Camaros at Bloomington Gold this year.
|
Who is judging them ?
|
According to the BG website
Bill Nichols former GM engineer is in charge and is fielding questions... [email protected] or 248.632.3138. |
If it is the same retired GM Powertrain Engineer Bill Nichols I am aware of he has a REALLY nice blue/blue Survivor 1967 427/400 Corvette with about 22k miles on it that was local to me growing up.

----I'll be there as Red Alert is also going to be on display. I wonder in future years if Chevelle's will also be brought into the Gold web? Not sure but think Kenny P is bringing it for the owner,,,Maybe!......Bill S

When Guy was looking for an LS6 Chevelle to have in the Gold Collection, I chimed in about Red Alert. It will be great to see you and Red Alert together again, Bill. I thought about Terry Carney this week as it was his birthday.
|
----I forgot Terry's Birthday, Tim. My bad as we have a birthday book that Jan keeps and neither one of us caught it. Will, for sure, be thinking of him while at the show. Scott Freeze and I are staying at the Indianapolis Hilton about a block from the show. We should grab some grub one night. Oh, and thanks for mentioning my old Chevelle to Guy!.....Bill S

Larry Christensen and Dale Murphy are judging the first generation Camaro Gold Certification Bloomington Gold Camaros with a limit of 5 cars as I recall due to the rigorous judging. I will have my 67 Yenko there on display and for judging. Red Alert will be brought to the show by Wilbur ....the owners museum curator.

I must be misinformed regarding dealer built cars and Bloomington.
I was under the impression that anything present on cars which was not installed at the assembly plant would have deductions, including dealer emblems - is this not the case? OR is Yenko considered the manufacturer? |

Thanks for sharing as I was not aware of that before. That will be most interesting as Larry is top judge for 5000 pt Legend Judging. Assume similar format to corvette Bloomington Gold process.

Amongst Camaro collectors I always understood the general acceptance was that anything done by the dealer - especially dealers with programs- Yenko Nickey Baldwin - anything prior to the initial sale was considered ORIGINAL.
IMHO having Larry in the position is a positive development. There really isn't a better person to have in that position who can be an advocate for dealer built cars. |
