'70 LS6 Chevelle Value Question
Hi All,
What is this car worth? '70 Chevelle LS6/M22/4.10s. Original white paint and body panels. Black stripes. Converted to an automatic currently for racing. Running a big cube big block now but original block/heads/intake/carb/distributor/exhaust manifolds come with car. Great pad. Assume POP and build sheet are present but I have not personally seen them. Real cowl tag. Believed to be real 12 bolt. Thanks, Dan |
Condition of the original paint and int would be the wild card.

What happened to the original 4 speed manual transmission? Is the original A.I.R. included?
|
Original paint looked very nice but further inspection is needed. I did not see the AIR system or transmission. Original owner had possession until recently - I'm certain the OO would know more

Does the race engine come with it? Good race engines aren’t cheap and depending on the build(er) could be worth some large coin.

Is the car caged? How are the rear spring pockets? Sometimes they develop stress cracks. Any twist on the a-arm pillars? There is usually memory from in the frame and body from drag racing.

Based on the photos I have seen and knowing what it will take to put the car back to its original state (even before restoring) I would say $35-$45k and that is assuming all the original parts check out. Right now the authenticity of the paperwork and the condition of the block/heads and verifying all the original parts is unknown. You can always increase your offer but hard to go backwards.
I agree with the value of the race motor but when buying a muscle car I put little value in that and give the seller the option of selling it as a roller. If he won't then I would value the car as what a race type big block prepped driver would sell for while adding a little more due to its provinance. |
I never value a race motor. You beat the piss out of it and it road hard.
|
There are photos? My mind tends to give a car the benefit of the doubt... so I assumed a car that was still in “presentable condition” and that the paperwork did check out.
For clarity, I was saying what I thought the car is worth, not what someone might offer. Hard to imagine someone buying an original paint LS6 that wasn’t a rust bucket with the original motor and assuming original docs for under $50k given what else you get for that money these days. |
Thanks for the feedback gents. I sent Rick photos 1-on-1 and don't wish to post more until I definitively pass on the car. It would be my pleasure to share more info at that point.
Regards, Dan |
Good luck Dan! I hope it works out that you get the car for a decent price.
I would have sent the photos to Rick for his input as well... been there, done that. |
