Hi All,

For sale here is our 1984 BMW 633 CSI. This was purchased from the estate of the original owner. 43k original miles. Clean CarFax report with no accidents reported.

This car is finished in its original combination of black exterior on red/black interior. Automatic transmission. Beautiful original paint which just had a complete correction detail and shows very nicely. The paint meter is consistent between 4-7 mils with one exception on the passenger 1/4 where there evidence of a small touch up.

The original interior is incredible. The multi-functional seat adjustments work flawlessly including the headrests! For those into these cars, it is well known that the headrests never work. Original OEM floor mats and all gauges work. The dash is crack free - again - you never see that.

This is a great survivor car that has been cared for and garaged since day 1. Bought locally in Greenwich, CT and lived in the immediate area its entire life. Lady owned and pampered. I've had two e28 5 Series and absolutely love these 1980s BMWs. I know other members here love these cars too and wanted to offer it here before other channels like Bring A Trailer.

Asking $16,000 OBO

Thanks,
Dan

Nice example. Only one thing under the hood is unfamiliar.

What is the small canister looking object, about the size of a coil, next to the fuse box with the read plastic flag sticking up?

It looks like a master kill switch.

MosportGreen66 05-28-2020 03:01 PM

Hi Lynn, thanks for the compliment. Tim is correct. It is a master kill. The car was stored often (as shown by the low miles) and original the owner wanted peace of mind doing so.

Thanks,
Dan

That is outstanding. Love these cars. I bet this would sell very strong on Bring a Trailer.

That's beautiful Dan, GLWS!!

Lynn 05-29-2020 03:07 AM

IIRC, that is the first year of the OD transmission. Really keeps the revs down on the highway. I had an 84 733i (same driveline) that I put 370k miles on.

Drove to Anaheim and back on a whim one weekend back in the early 90s. Coming home on I40 through Ariz. and N.M. I set the cruise on 100 and didn't touch a pedal for 4 hours. 400 miles in 4 hours. Would have gone farther, but had to stop for gas.

I am with you Dan. There wasn't much perrormance to be had in the 80's until late when Buick turned it up a notch. These cars, while not at all fast by today's standards, were (and still are) such a joy to drive.

The seven series has a very problematic A/C system (took me years to sort mine out.... and you have to pull the dash to replace the vac servos) but your six has no such malady.

Sorry for rambling. GLWS.

Those cars are so smooth on the highway.

I still have my 84 745i (gray market car) 325k miles on it. My son has a Euro model 1980 635 CSi that we are planning to restore if I ever get my shop done.

If I remember right, the '85 m5 was putting down close to 300hp.

Lynn 05-30-2020 02:27 AM

Euro spec M5 286. Sadly, the U.S. version only 256.

You have to consider the time period. Still fun cars to drive, even today.

Oh, man! I have been looking at these Shark noses for the last few years and particularly the M version. Almost pulled the trigger on one right before I snatched up the Ferrari. Dang it! These early BMWs are such a hoot with the 5 speeds. If this had one, I’d be all over it like cheap in-law to a free dinner! Just my views, but the automatic just takes all the fun out it for my liking. Can’t beat the originality and look of this one though....try and find another!!

It’ll go fast!!

Cheers:beers:
Dave

Lynn 06-01-2020 12:32 PM

Dave: You can always swap in a 5 speed. I have converted 6 Bimmers from Auto to 5 speed; including the 745i that I have now.

If you have all the parts lined up, it is a weekend project for me. I am guessing just a long lunch for you.

A12pilot 06-01-2020 03:57 PM

Ha! True, Lynn. But that’s the last thing I need is another project. Although this is a pretty sweet car!:eek2:

Man.....decisions......:frown:

Cheers:beers:

Thanks for the continued convo here gents... Update from our side is that we took about 150 photos for Bring A Trailer and are in talks now for our final submission! We also found the original window sticker and sales agreement. We have about 25 service receipts from the original owner as well.

Dave - this e24 would be a great addition to your diverse collection. We had it out this weekend and enjoy care free cruising. I agree with you on the manual transmission and we even investigated swap kits but we don't have the heart to modify this one. It needs to go to someone who will enjoy it as-is.

Thanks,
Dan

A12pilot 06-01-2020 04:25 PM

I couldn’t agree with you more, Dan! A car like this doesn’t need to be modified. Yes, it’s not an M or anything overly special so modding it wouldn’t be a real crime. But it’s unmolested, well taken care of, Lots of paperwork, and that in itself DOES make it overly special to remain as-is and driven by someone that will enjoy it!

She’s a beauty and thanks for giving us all a shot at it first!

Cheers:beers:
Dave

Hey Dave, BAT is in the works... we’re waiting on docs from NY DMV which has been on lock down since the pandemic started. eBay is just some cheap marketing until DMV resumes normal operations.

Thanks again for the kind words.
