Iron Mike Tyson age 53

Lynn 05-13-2020 01:57 PM

I am sure he still packs a punch. I bet if he fought Buster Douglas TODAY, Mike wins.

Charley Lillard 05-13-2020 02:04 PM

I think the plan is for him to fight Holyfield again for a big payday.

Mr70 05-13-2020 02:06 PM

Cover your ears..

BLACKLS5 05-13-2020 02:34 PM

That was one of those sporting events I'll never forget. I, and many at the time thought Tyson was unstoppable. I had never heard of Buster Douglas before that fight came to be. What a shocker that fight was. The beginning of the end...

TimG 05-13-2020 02:34 PM

I box three days per week and spar 15 rounds per week and I wouldn't get near this guy in a ring.

Tyson was so unaware of how he impacted people back in the 80's... listen to his interview with Joe Rogan from about a year ago... incredible!

earntaz 05-13-2020 04:14 PM

He must have figured out people have two ears ... just sayin' ...

Astock 05-13-2020 10:38 PM

That's Rafael Cordeiro holding pads in Mike's garage, in Newport Beach. He was saying 3 weeks ago, Mike's going to do some fights for charity. I think just 6 round bouts. I'm sure one will be with Evander, since he's back to training too. Rafael was scared holding the pads for iron Mike.

prototype 05-13-2020 10:52 PM

Love him or hate him...….Mike is an interesting guy.

I appreciate his sense of humor and how he reeled himself back at times. I'm sure there are many times his life could have ended badly.

He's had a relationship with pigeons his entire life and it's claimed his fighting career actually started over someone killing one of his birds. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.....but Mike's truth writes like a fiction book anyhow.

No such person.

Tyson car story: 1988 or so Iron Mike banged up his Bentley Conv in Manhattan. 2 Officers showed up to the scene and Mike said' This car is nothing but bad luck, you guys keep it..." and they did, for a while, until the Sarg made them give it back. Only Iron Mike...

carnut4life 05-15-2020 12:36 AM

If Cus D'mato hadn't died so early in his career he could have been the best ever. Once Jim Jacobs died in 1988 he didn't have a chance, everyone after Jim was a yes man looking for a big payday so they just sat back and told him how great he was and eventually he started believing it himself and it was game over.

Tyson was definitely the most feared fighter in his prime. As for the GOAT and both in their prime, Clay wins.

Astock 05-19-2020 05:48 AM

I hate to say it, but Mike would bomb on Ali. If Ali somehow made it into the 6 round, and Mike blew himself out, maybe a different story. Mike had a very high energy fighting style that took a Z06 gas tank. That tank sprung a leak soon after Gus.
Ali was the best, 100%. No greater fighter, trash talker, person, athlete, personality, intelligence, and wit.

Letting the inner demons finally come out to play on Sept 12th, against another legend in Roy Jones jr.
Maybe 911 would have been a more appropriate date.

I'd much rather see him fight Bob Sapp,as Tyson has been chomping at the bit to fight him for years.
Recently he was led to believe he was going to face him too, then they changed fighters on him.
This from 2011..

Its a glorified sparring session

There's no going light with Mike's fighting style.
Even if they agreed not to go more than 70%, that will last a minute or two. Huge ego's, both are fighters.

JRSully 08-02-2020 12:51 AM

Classic Don King style..., Tyson is VERY schooled after all these years, and I would think Sapp may be in the works. Why shouldn't Tyson cash in after King took a large amount of his $$ when he was a kid.? Boxing is struggling big and everybody loves a (Tyson) comeback....

Charley Lillard 08-02-2020 01:46 PM

I chuckled when I watched a video of Tyson sparring as you could tell they sped up the video.

Astock 11-28-2020 05:42 PM

Ca. State Athletic Commission - no knockout rule in effect.

I bet someone forgot to tell Mike, because within the first minute, Mike will start blasting away.

Mr70 11-29-2020 12:32 PM

A Draw?
Never saw that coming.

Astock 11-29-2020 05:05 PM

95% body shots and clinching. I didn't see that coming.
Nice to see Mike turned a corner, and stuck to the rules he and Jones agreed on. Head shots were just touches, except for a couple.

BJCHEV396 11-29-2020 06:56 PM

Cash grab!

Mr70 11-29-2020 07:53 PM

Tyson got himself in amazing shape.Jones tied Tyson up in every round & was looking exhausted half way through it all.
I know it was just an exhibition match, but come on,Tyson would have destroyed him if it wasn't.
Tyson never looked winded to me.

Astock 11-30-2020 01:42 AM

100%.
Amazing Tyson didn't let his ego go with the world watching, and land his famous power combo's. I took it as though, he was paying back Jones for doing the fight, and help promote the "Legend league" Tyson is trying to get off the ground.

markjohnson 11-30-2020 01:52 AM

Just a glorified, over-hyped sparring match . . .

914JPW 11-30-2020 02:21 AM

That’s what I said on page 3 on 7-24-2020. Haha

Ha! Great minds think alike!

70 copo 11-30-2020 11:26 AM

Everyone knew it was going to be an exhibition Fight but instead of the normal 3 rounds they went 8.

Here is the Link I posted here back in July.... https://royjonesjr.com/
