I believe this was owned by Dave Christianholz of Scottsdale - saw it there around 2007 or so.

SS427 06-14-2019 08:23 PM

Fuller's coupe. Now in Washington.

chads454Ls6 06-15-2019 11:26 PM

What does “still finished in the original tuxedo black paint mean”?

SS427 06-15-2019 11:50 PM

I remember when it was at the Super Car Reunion the originality of the paint was being questioned. Don't recall what the outcome was.

chads454Ls6 06-15-2019 11:55 PM

The car has been repainted, That is why I’m asking what do they mean by original tuxedo black paint.

Here are the pics of the LS6 convertible when Dave owned it and a BUNCH of other cool cars....

----I first met Bob Fuller around 1969-70. We went to his house to look at the black LS6. Bob was not a real likeable guy. He invited us out there and then turned nasty when we got there. We left without the car. Later I bought a 66 red Hemi Satelite from Jerome Shinkay and found out later that he bought it from Fuller. A year or so later my boss Richard B was sponsoring an auction and I reluctantly put the Hemi up for sale as I had house payments to make. Bob ended up trading me a 70 454 Corvette for it. Thinking it was a good deal at the time I didn't look the car over too well and later found it had a one piece Eckler's nose on it. My bad, but that was the end of doing business with Bob!......Bill S

That is probably why everyone thinks this car is original paint, because why would anyone think differently?

Seems to me it's classic auction language written in an ambiguous way to give prospective buyers the impression it's the original coat of paint from the factory, but instead it seems the actual meaning is the car is still painted in the original factory color of Tuxedo Black based on your statement the car was repainted.

Bruce, thanks for bringing back this old thread. What an amazing collection of cars and signs Dave C. had at one time. Hard to pick a favorite from so many to choose, but for me the blue and white striped ZL-1 is at or near the top of my list.

"Cowl induction hood, stripe delete"

olredalert 02-06-2020 03:03 PM

----To describe the hood I think that I would say simply that the car has an SS hood and stripes were not ordered, not stripe delete......Bill S

Mr70 02-06-2020 03:19 PM

SS hoods didn't receive stripes though,so to say it was a stripe delete would be incorrect,as you can't delete something it never had in the first place
Chevrolet called that standard SS hood a "power bulge hood" in their original literature.

Maybe a new term is needed...unoptioned:wink:
