I thought so also. Scam?

the427king 03-28-2019 02:51 AM

...The 428CJ motor value out of the car plus the price of doing the interior and top are more than the asking price.

BOWTIE67327 03-28-2019 03:51 AM

if I was a ford guy that would be the equivelant of a 69 Chevelle ss convert

L_e_e 03-28-2019 01:36 PM

I doubt it's a scam, as I couldn't resist the temptation and I called and talked to the owners wife (nice lady) and I am going to see the car in a couple of hours.
I'll report back.

Nice people ….………………………. BUT …………………. its an original Hunter Green with a 390 motor, and the 428 in it is Thunder Jet, not a Cobra Jet motor …………..………….. priced correctly at 7000.00.

chevyandpontiac 03-28-2019 09:11 PM

Still seems like a steal at $7000

I believe you have to unbolt one motor mount and jack one side the engine up to change plugs.......just one of MANY reasons not to own a Ford. lol

I have to agree with Dan that $7000 still is a decent price for the car.

I hope L E E buys it. I have not seen it but I think prices correctly it off base. I have a 69 XR7 very with a 351W and would not sell it for that.

What part of it was a hoax?
The people were real, the car was real.
Here's a pic from Google maps.

Post has been deleted. LEE you must have scored this??

CamaroNOS 04-03-2019 06:58 PM

The ad is a hoax.

I never said the car did not exist, it is just not for sale. The owner said it was a "scam, somebody in the area listed the car without him knowing about it" and now he is getting hammered with calls.

Paul

BOWTIE67327 04-03-2019 07:58 PM

kind of wierd that LEE talked to the owners wife about the car

L_e_e 04-03-2019 09:14 PM

Maybe that is what he told your buddy after realizing he probably listed it too cheap by the volume of interest it generated. But it was defiantly for sale, I passed on it.

CamaroNOS 04-03-2019 09:54 PM

Thanks.....now we know the whole story.

I spoke to the wife and she said that its a 390 car and they made a mistake when they wrote the add …. it was supposed to say …. 428 added … hmmmm. As I said before, if this is indeed a 390 car, and a color change from Hunter Green to Gold, and needing a full restoration, 7000 is not out of line.

Just my 2 cents :)

Correct, I was told the same as you.
