Shelby GT350R ('17 or '18)
O.k., so, if you go strictly by the title of this section "Supercars/Musclecars-Wanted", my request is valid. However this being a F*rd request, I will understand if the moderators deep six this thread.
However, if the moderators have a lapse in judgement and allow this thread, I am looking for a low mileage (less than 2K miles) 350R version with most colors considered ('cept yellow, orange, grabber blue). I would entertain a '19 allocation (I know - fat chance!) at MSRP but little or no ADM. And, for the record, Mikey drives a Mustang now!!!!!!!!!! Hmmmmmm, now that I think about it, I think he is the one who gave me the bug! Thanks!! P.S. Thoughts from anyone who has one or driven one? P.S.S. I have done the routine web searches - looking for more word-of-mouth or inside info [i.e. if anyone knows Jay Leno, maybe he would part with his ;>)) ] |
The R model is more track based than the GT350. There are packages that available that can make it more driver friendly. The R model is the best of the best. Carbon fiber wheels too. You chose a great car to buy.. Good Luck on the search..
|
btw , It is a flat plane crankshaft engine. Sounds bad#$$ . 65 to 75k will get you what you want if you look hard.
|
I looked at these but ended up w a2015 Z. Unbelievable car better then the stang ! 427 NA the last of the rats!!
|
eBay item number 123623187099 150 miles $ 68,000 It is in Tulsa, Ok.. I am 20 miles from there, gladly " test drive' it for you and inspect it. Scott.
|
Thanks Scott. I saw that one. Very purdy w/ only 144 miles!! I appreciate your offer and may contact you about this.
Engine personality-wise, these cars remind me of the 302 cu. in. Z’s - you have to wind them out to get the performance. The 305 cu. in. 350R engine comes alive after 3500 rpm and continues to pull all the way to 8250 rpm!! 429 lb ft / 526 H.P. and it's..... NA!! |

I have a 2016 with 390 miles.
|
Nice. I will try to get a hold of you tomorrow.

I was interested in a 2015 Z and a couple guys I know that had them said they rode rough. Sounds like the mustang rides better. Where I live, I figured the Z would beat me up. I have a low mile 2002 Trans Am with the ws6 and that thing beats me up too.
Is the mustangs ride tolerable? That engine sounds wicked |
Hey Bill,
At this point I only know what I read !!! But, I understand the GT350 (non R) may be the better choice to minimize getting "beat up". Same drive train, just without the more aggressive suspension tweaking, CF wheels, wider (305F/315R) and stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s, and more pronounced rear wing. BTW, the aggressive howl of the Voodoo engine is in part due to the flat plane crank (ala Ferrari which has a 180 degree angle between crank throws allowing for faster and higher revs) and the removed exhaust resonators for the "R" version. I too can't get over the sweet sound this engine makes - you can select "quiet" ;>) mode or full on race mode to rattle your fillings!! |

My Z only has 800 miles and the 427 sounds angry! |
I remember Warren Johnson back in ‘80’s running a flat plane crankshaft for a short while in his 500-inch NHRA Pro Stocker and I couldn’t believe the drastic change in engine sound. Since then I’ve always been fascinated by them!

So, Charley's black R is a superlative low mile example. But, in my old age the radio and air con delete doesn't provide enuff creature comfort for my old carcass. If you are in the market for a truly track focused (straight line capability is great too) sports car, contact Charley. Scott - I will be in touch wrt your offer. Thanks all! |
The GT350's and the 5.2 flat plane cranks are amazing cars. AMAZING. If you have ever hear one singing at 8000 rpm you would know what I mean

Scott G is the man! He really stepped up and did a thorough check over of this Shelby for me. He did a nice job of giving me all the information I needed which led to me ultimately pulling the trigger on this car. I’m looking forward to seeing what this track monster is capable of.
Thanks again SCOTT! :3gears: Shelby is a 2017 and has 140 miles on it. Color is Lightning Blue, 6 spd, CF wheels, with back seat deleted. GM of a dealership in Tulsa bought it and took it directly from the trailer on delivery day to his garage at home. Still has plastic on the seats and stickers on the windows and “dealer prep“ will be left up to me! |
Wow! Awesome!

Neat stuff Sam! Yenko.net members are great folks... :)
|
You got that right Bruce! :headbang: Never ceases to amaze me how helpful folks are ‘round here!
|
Fantastic Sam!
My wife has a 2017 5.0 GT as her daily and loves it. It's no Shelby though! |

congrats Sam! Its a breathtaking car. Love em and I don't think there is a better new 'musclecar' out there.
|
Thanks Frank. Be advised, however, your comment "I don't think there is a better new 'musclecar' out there" could be considered a tad contentious 'round these here parts! :>))

That’s right Scott. We had a “bit” of a challenge with the owner who, once he got his money, turned into a horses pitoot! Scott was a HUGE help in getting this mess sorted out and even recommended Plycar which performed an incredible turn getting the car to me within 2 days of calling them. Thanks for your Herculean efforts through this entire process. My car arrived safe and sound at 1:00 p.m. today and so far no spats have broken out between the two stable (pun intended) mates!
|
The effort on my end equals the awesomeness of that car. LOL. Thank You Sam.
|
Looks like a real fun car Sam. Have you had it out yet?
|
Hey Graeme - just tip-toeing around the neighborhood for now. About 800 miles to go for proper break-in. Will have protective paint film installed shortly so am keeping miles to a minimum. These Pilot Sport Cup 2's are crazy sticky and pick up (and throw) everything! They will be replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's which are merely an aggressive summer street tire vs. the Cup 2's being a dedicated track tire.
In the mean time, the sOuNd................is intoxicating below 4500 rpm!!!!! and should hold me over until I can probe the upper realms of the 8250 rpm redline! |
