68-70 Nova Supercars
What dealerships or 3rd party tuners were doing conversions to 427 or 454 power in this timeframe?
I've started a list, but feel free to add to it and post pics. Yenko Motion Performance Nickey Dick Harrell Dale Anderson Cordia Bill Thomas (1 confirmed) Were there any Dana or Berger 427/454 converted cars in this timeframe? Also, I know Nickey built 454 cars until 73 and Motion until 72. Were others? |
I believe Berger was involved..

I seem to remember a low mile 73 or so nova here on this site that was a not so well known dealer conversion to a 454..L-88 maybe? I seem to remember a Tony owning it or recently buying it? Anyone?

Docs, Ads or photos to prove Dana and Berger were converting Novas beyond their factory 396 power plants?
|
Novas...
Of course, Fred Gibb was a conduit to the Harrell shop for some of the conversions...not sure if the dealership did other upgrades. But they were certainly part of the process.
Courtesy Chevrolet was also a player back then....and of course there many dealers who were part of the Yenko, Gibb and Motion networks. Byrne Bros Chevy in White Plains, NY was well known for hi-perf cars and parts. -wilma |
Grabiak Chevrolet in New Alexandria was to have converted at least one 69 Cortez Silver 396 to a 427...

Anderson Chevrolet was located in one of the Atlanta suburbs and converted a number of cars to 427 power. Their advertising campaign was "More Motion for You Money" which was an obvious play on Motion Performance / Baldwin Chev. Don't have precise numbers of cars converted, but probably not too many. This Nova was always a local car to Atlanta area, so body was super nice. The Mayor tells me it "might" make it to this year's SYC Reunion. |

Awesome! In the meantime can you share some more pics of the car prior to restoration? Did Anderson convert Camaros and Chevelles as well?

Is that blue one in the "Brother's Collection"?
|
If you are talking about the blue Yenko Nova previously pictured it is in "The Shed" collection here in Minnesota.
|
That is quite a collection in itself! Just not real easy to get to.

Anyone have pics or info on Anderson?

I have the Anderson Nova in my shop getting close to being done. Drive down. Donahue isn't that far. Or, the way spring flooding is going, you might be able to float down.

The google picture is how it looks today. The old building was converted into a Uhaul storage facility. The location at the time was in the heart of the commercial district and right by the "Big Chicken" KFC which was and still is a famous landmark in the Atlanta suburbs.

This is a picture of the old Anderson Motor Company in the 30's before they moved to the newer location near the "Big Chicken" in the mid 60's. I found an obituary for the original salesman of my car James Goff who died in 2008 and James Anderson III who was one of the owner's of the dealership died in 2004.
