I went to Pavilions today and met up with Toby Shine, John Ward, Ward Gappa, Stan Harvell,Tom Kelly Fred Mandrick, and a few others. My brother Gary came with the Chevelle, and my wife Lynn and Holly came up later...and Bill Waters was there too. Floyd and Jean Werlein came over too! Rick Eckenrode and Bob Anderson were at another car show today...and I am sure that Rick will have lots of pics, too.

Pavilions was overrun with VW's today...it was planned by the VW clubs and no one knew it was happening. A lot of the regulars pulled in and then just left and went elsewhere.

It was great to see and hang out with everyone https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...1/16/1f642.png

Whoever thought blocking off so much of the available space for cars that MIGHT show up was a good idea sure messed things up. I drove around three times, and couldn't find a suitable spot, not even in the "civilian" parking area. The parking police threw me out of there, so I just left. Nice day for a cruise anyway. That new blue Camaro with the 321 GONE plate was blowing so much oil smoke from the pipes that he obviously has tested those racing tires a little too much.

Hi Mike, The VW folks pulled a fast one and arranged via social media to do a "Takeover of Pavilions" They even had stickers made up. They arrived at 7:30 in the morning. McDonalds and the car cruise folks were unaware.

Next time they do something like this, they will be relegated to the club participation area.

I wish I would have known you were cruising through. We would have got you a spot for sure!

All but a couple of spots were full except those reserved for the Olds folks with 10 + empty spots, motorcycles, which had about 20-30 car spots being occupied by ONE motorcycle, and Mustang night, which had probably another 20 spots unused. The entire area in front of McDonalds was taped off, with no cars there. Seems to me the feature stuff has been taken too far. Besides, they NEVER have a Buick Night! Why not have a B.O.P. night, and make all the late model Vettes find their own spots? Done whining now.

I hear ya! Since the McDonalds was sold, it's kind of a free for all some days...

I didn't realize the McDonalds had been sold :dunno:

"GONE" may refer to the engine's condition! Wonder if they'll warranty that?

I agree. I've noticed over the years it's slowly gotten worse. I understand a row for club night, that's nice, but the rest of it is getting out of hand. Never used to be able to save spots for people that weren't there either. I've driven down from Prescott many times the past couple years and just turn around and hit the cruise on 67th and Bell instead. I like to drive rather than sit anyway.

I have found however, that if you go when it's 110 outside, you have more parking spots to choose from since everyone is afraid of a little heat
