sold for $1,000 in 1989. geez

Bill Pritchard 02-19-2018 01:56 PM

I doubt that $1000 figure is the real sale price......probably done for tax purposes. Even in 1989, it was well known that these were highly desirable. Very cool car!

They forgot to add the most important picture.

true

Has got to be a lowball figure to evade DMV sales tax.

Looks like there are going to be title issues on this one if I read that ad correctly?

Nice car!

carnut4life 02-19-2018 03:36 PM

How cool would it have been to sit in the passenger seat of this car from Des Moines to LA with Dale Armstrong?

RPOLS3 02-19-2018 07:02 PM

Evidently he had a low mileage matching convertible as well.

Crazy enough, I found the original Honolulu Newspaper ad for the 'Vert as below.
Info in ad is vague including engine size not noted but date/mileage etc correct.
RIP Dale.
:beers:

Dang Pete, YOU are GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill Pritchard 02-21-2018 02:59 AM

Would these two be the ultimate pair of 409 Impalas to have, or what?

Charley Lillard 02-21-2018 08:39 PM

I inquired on the convert and the dealer told me it sold at Barrett-Jackson for 181,300.00

I would run, not walk, from the Corona Cream convertible.

luzl78 04-20-2018 04:26 PM

You don’t like it?

scuncio 04-21-2018 02:58 AM

Inquiring minds want to know...what's up with the vert?

markjohnson 04-21-2018 03:37 AM

For starters, that block stamping is a giant red flag.

scuncio 07-30-2018 02:01 AM

The hardtop is back up for sale with a $59k buy-it-now.... No auction pics of the block stamp for this one.

Mark, do you have any firsthand knowledge of the hardtop as well?

No, I don’t and there’s not enough photos of certain areas to determine yay or nay. BTW, that is a pretty rare color combination and I can’t even remember the last time I saw one like that. It’s been advertised for awhile now but when it comes to ‘62’s, everybody seems to have “bubbletop” fever. I hate that word . . .
