2019 Silverado Yea/Nay?

Plenty of negative press on the new Silverado. Thoughts?

While I don't think its as horrible as many are saying, its sure not all that exciting either. Ford and even Toyota seem to have a more appealing truck line.

Front looks like its too small and pinched.

I'm not a fan of it....

I have a 2013 Silverado Z71 and like the look of mine much better...

Nay,,, for now. Would have to see how a Reg Cab Shorty looks before I can say Yea. Thanx for posting,,

m22mike 12-17-2017 11:23 PM

What a ugly truck

mockingbird812 12-17-2017 11:28 PM

muscular body yes.
Squished front nose looks like a bunch of cement bags just fell on the front of the hood!
With LED lights a lot of companies (Jeep too) feel compelled to put little slitty lights and they just don’t work on most vehicles. I.e. big brawny truck .... little slitty lights! Nope

68camaroz28 12-17-2017 11:39 PM

I had a 2008 and now 2016 GMC and like their style and looks.

Wakepowell 12-18-2017 01:25 AM

Finally, they put decent wheel openings on the GM trucks. The rectangular openings have looked aweful for decades

X2 Looks like a small version or compact style.

L72copocamaro 12-18-2017 03:15 AM

The big wheel openings make it look pretty aggressive to me.

flyingn 12-18-2017 10:53 AM

Stole Ford's 150 styling Que's.

70 copo 12-18-2017 12:25 PM

I see some 1999 Silverado styling in the front - and a big nod to the Toyota Tundra on the body.

Ditto on the F Series lights.

Do not like. :(

68bronze 12-18-2017 01:32 PM

i will stick with my 2014 Silverado LTZ

The Boss 12-18-2017 01:39 PM

I don't think it's terrible but I'd still take my Tundra over it.

Charley Lillard 12-18-2017 01:40 PM

Over the years I usually hate the new look on trucks when they come out and then end up liking them. I have no opinion on this new one so I am guessing I will like it.

Steve Shauger 12-18-2017 01:46 PM

I actually like it a lot. I have a 2017 and wish I was in the position to get a new one. Yes it has some F150 ques.....

Jeff H 12-18-2017 01:53 PM

The front end reminds me of my old 2001 stepside. It's a little better than my 2009 but they are still too boxy which kills gas mileage. I generally don't like the newer trucks either, but then they start to grow on me. I do like the Colorado/Canyon but wished they made a regular cab version. I don't need a crew cab/extended cab and nobody makes a small pickup with a regular cab anymore.

Tarrytown SS427s 12-18-2017 02:05 PM

I haven't cared for the GM truck designs since they stopped building 07 classics. They just seem to get more and more gaudy (and pricey) with each generation.

I am the same way. I wasn't a fan of the 2015 Colorado when they came out, but now I really like my 2016 Z71.

SeattleCarGuy 12-18-2017 03:34 PM

I will reserve judgment until I see what the new HD's look like.

I love everything about my '17 Denali Duramax.

Craig_Maiorana 12-18-2017 03:35 PM

I don't mind it one bit

Vern B 12-18-2017 03:53 PM

If the only alternative is Ford, Dodge or Toyota I like it a lot.

I’ll keep my 50k mile 3/4 ton Duramax with no DEF.

JRC99 12-18-2017 04:31 PM

I honestly haven't liked GM's styling at all since about 1998. I don't know why, but Ford and Dodge have been much more attractive to me.

cook_dw 12-18-2017 04:57 PM

I actually really like it. Better than the Ford, Tundra, Titan triplets.. Dodge hasn't changed its look IMHO since 1994..

I just sold a GMC Denali 2500 HD Duramax and loved it until the head gasket went at 52k! Anyway I agree on a bit wider wheel well as I lifted mine slightly and couldn't get much tire under it w/o rubbing.

That's what I thought too, until my dealer's service dept dropped my '09 off the lift and totaled it. They put me in a '17 for a deal I'd been stupid not to take, but I still think any GMC Sierra 2014 or older is the best looking truck on the road. I'm not totally in love with my '17 HD's styling but on the road dragging my trailer it all becomes OK.

The '19 pictured isn't my favorite either but GM will sell a bunch of them.

1967 Impala 12-18-2017 07:05 PM

Not that it matters but I wouldn't buy it

IM RARE 12-18-2017 11:05 PM

all the new trucks are ugly but the rounded wheel well opening help but still would to buy either its like there all lost on what to design next

JKZ27 12-18-2017 11:57 PM

The current Chevy's look great to me. I don't accept change very quickly but this may grow on me. I kinda liked the square wheel wells and dislike the F-series big hoop accented fender arch. I hope the new Chevy will be all steel and will be curious to see the HD style as well as the cheap, steel wheel work truck version.
I love my 05 GMC 3/4HD.

Tommy 12-19-2017 12:36 AM

I would like a new Chevy or GMC truck please!

Tommy

Billohio 12-19-2017 01:03 AM

My 2017 HD has the diesel hood scoop and that is hard to see over where i set the seat. I do like the truck. The new duramax makes some weird noises tho

sixt9rsx33 12-19-2017 01:10 AM

I like it, but still have way too much life left in my '14 6.2 liter Silverado to get one.

Only reason I mention DEF is where I live it will slush in the winter and put you into limp mode which makes for highly enjoyable ride home........not!!

Last year on my 3 month RV trip to Alaska, a guy was traveling with us in a 2016, 14k mile 3/4 ton Ford. We did a 100 mile loop through the Klondike gold fields, 50 miles from Dawson City his truck went into limp mode due to a failure in the DEF system. He spent 8 1/2 hours limping back to Dawson at 5 mph.

Up there they tear the DEF system off and throw it way.

If you are referring to an occasional light ticking as it coasts down to a stop, I read on a diesel forum that all the L5Ps do it, supposedly injector noise.

You have to love the new Dodge. I was a chevy guy up to 07. Price kept climbing and quality kept going down.

olredalert 12-20-2017 05:49 PM

----You have to watch Ram trucks up here in Michigan to see just how badly a bed can rust out in two or three years. Dodge apparently makes no attempt what so ever to protect the beds from rust out in any way. At least you are from a southern state and have a chance.......Bill S

Agreed.

Front ends do not stand up to commercial snow plowing, nor severe 4wd applications, i.e. oilfield application for one.

Survivor 69/Z28 12-21-2017 01:31 AM

Looks really nice to me.
Nothing beats the looks of the Ford Raptor IMO.
But it looks like Chevy is making a good run at them.
Dodges are so dated. Just my 2 cents.

I've loved the Raptor since they came out but pound for pound & dollar for dollar, I'll stick with my Tundra and leave the extra 25k in stocks.
