67 Camaro Stinger Hood
2 Attachment(s)
Does anyone recognize the manufacturer of this Hood? I don’t know anything about it other than seeing the pics. Thanks!
|
Looks like VFN on top, but not the bottom. http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/679camaro.htm
|
VFN listed Ed Cunneen @ copo.com for the finished piece They look to be $699. Looks nice with a finished bottom.

Sure looks like the original A&A hood bottom side ribs? Is it heavier than you'd expect also have you looked closely for a Dymo type maker's mark on the underside? :hmmm: ~ Pete . |
Thanks guys. I don’t own this, but was thinking about buying it. I’ve never seen the bottom finished like that.
|
Question: do these hoods allow for fresh air intake? looks closed up in front & rear-
I really like the looks of these hoods, wondering how functional for air intake?? |
VFN hood looks open in the rear.

Mark,
I checked my reference A&A Fiberglass catalogues and that hood appears to be an original stinger hood from back in the day. If you compare the ones being sold through Ed Cunneen (VFN) there are differences in the design of the underside (See link below). If the hood is for sale I would scoop it up! http://copo.com/index.html |
Thanks a Guys!
|
so... Did you get it? guy says it is sold.
|
No, must have been someone else. I think it is a newer version, so I wasn’t in a panic to own it.
|
Thanks for the reply Zedder, was more curious if it was something that can be bought now or it was old school. Really liked the underside detail, plus it was local to us. Shipping and our Cdn Peso is killing me!! Did you figure out who's hood it was?
|
Yeah, no shipping was what had me interested too. I think I will go with a steel version and pick it up in Michigan if I go that route one day.
No, never figured out what company, but all the old pics I looked at had very plain looking undersides compared to that one. |

It looked a bit too perfect in the pics but seeing it had the A&A rib style also rectangular box mold imprints on each side towards the front, I was thinking it may be an original A&A hood too? Here's a few pics below to compare, some from past threads when RIP Member Clint was nabbing up a few of these hoods on Craigslist etc. From the pics, the VFN hoods appear to be smooth underside and Ed's w/ the A&A rib style but no rectangular box imprints...anyone have bottom side pics of the Barry Plasti-glass hoods and/or more info to offer? :beers: ~ Pete . |

Ed's hood. :beers: ~ Pete . |
Looks more like Ed’s hood than Clint’s first pic (at the back). Probably should have bought it anyway...it was only $600 Cdn!

Early Stinger hood

I'm still trying to find any history on the early Stinger hoods like this one. I've not seen another with the underside detail in fiberglass like it.

Way cool, stinger style scoop but w/o the nose point. Whatever it is, it looks like a good quality piece. Thanks for posting, love to see more anything of this era hoods! :beers: ~ Pete . |
Looks like I have solved the hood mystery, I spoke with the guy who brought the hood into Canada and he even knew the guy that was selling it. The hood came from Camaro Specialties and is listed on their site for 795 U.S. They also offer a 68 style hood and a 69 cross ram hood. All are claimed to be made by them. I think I might just order one now that Zedder got me all cranked up for one!!
|
Thanks for solving it Paul!
|
Paul, back for sale on Kijiji...guy offered it to me for $600...it’s in London now.
|
for fresh air cut the hole out in front of the stinger
|
Thanks Mark, that is the same hood as the other guy told me sold it to a guy in London. Wonder if there is a fit issue? I'll call him if your not on it.
|
That’s exactly what I wondered too. He said he’ll take $500 now.
