1972 Chevelle SS454 Convertible, $119k

Beautiful car - are these going for this kind of coin? Still the holy grail of '72 Chevelles IMO.

For that money I'd at least want the trunk stripes corrected.

BLACKLS5 09-21-2017 12:11 PM

"W" car owners also feel that they are the Holy Grail, although the market never seems to reflect that.

Mr70 09-21-2017 12:16 PM

He couldn't pull it out of the garage for @ least one front end shot?

Steve Shauger 09-21-2017 01:16 PM

The car needs a lot of details corrected and take better pics. He can ask what ever he wants but.......

Riding on the coattails of the '70s since they're so expensive?

scott s 09-21-2017 03:34 PM

Really nice car , mine was a steal at 65k then....

TimG 09-21-2017 03:43 PM

That's a great 1972 color for the GM line.

Lee Stewart 09-21-2017 04:32 PM

That price is absurd. Compare it to this car which sold last year for $56,000

Craig_Maiorana 09-21-2017 08:10 PM

Absurd is an understatement

GM Powertrain 09-22-2017 02:11 PM

Classic case of car auction tv trickle down effect on the brain. Dream on....

mockingbird812 09-22-2017 02:22 PM

You guys missed the fine print "$80K in the glove box". Now who feels silly? ;>))

olredalert 09-22-2017 03:11 PM

----Agree with Steve! So many small things to correct. Not worth anywhere near that asking price. I see it at around $35,000,,,,,Maybe......Bill S

About that Silver SS . . .

It has been offered for sale 5X in two years (2015 and 2016) through Mecum. Sale price and high bid ranges between $52,500 and $56,000.

Some equate "rare" and "valuable" mean the same thing and that just isn't the case many times.

scott s 09-22-2017 09:28 PM

I agree but i still say somethings not as advertised or they are just buying it back if a complete frame off all #s 454,m22, conv with all paperwork, and those options with supposed 25,000 orig miles sells for 50k ish somethings fishy.......

The Highlights say unrestored with mostly original paint

Quote:

HIGHLIGHTS
Unrestored
2 original build sheets
Dealer order form and bill of sale
Original Protect-O-Plate
25,240 actual miles
Mostly original Pewter Silver with Black stripes

Perceived value and actual value are two different things.
