I know the front spoiler and wheels are not correct - anything else wrong?

70 L78 Camaro..

Nice looking car...great color.

Looks like a few engine detailing items might need attention...and though I'm not sure, I thought all the L78 Camaros got the dual snorkel air cleaner??

Mr70 06-20-2017 11:41 AM

This one certainly did receive a dual snorkel air cleaner @ the factory, that's for sure.

Dave Rifkin 06-20-2017 11:57 AM

Did all 1970 Camaros get the Camaro emblem on the trunk?

azcamaros 06-20-2017 12:12 PM

This one definitely has a long history.

Xplantdad 06-20-2017 01:08 PM

I figured you'd know, Mike!:headbang:

Billohio 06-20-2017 01:13 PM

I was in Florida at the end of February in March and I think it was on ebay then

Should there be an SS emblem on the rear spoiler or no?

No - not like the Z28 which did have it because the rear spoiler was standard

njsteve 06-21-2017 10:33 AM

Is that the same car a member here had a while back?

L72Biscayne 06-21-2017 11:16 AM

Too answer your question about Did all 70 camaros come with a emblem on the deck lid the answer is no. I have a 70 Z28 that I bought from the original family in 87 with original paint and it never had one

azcamaros 06-21-2017 11:58 AM

The VIN is worth a Google.

According to Chevrolet it should have been there. These screenshots are from the GM Heritage Center for 1970 Camaro:

There is no RPO to add the Z28 emblem to the spoiler BTW.

70 Camaro..

The cream always floats to the top of the septic tank...

"According to Chevrolet it should have been there. These screenshots are from the GM Heritage Center for 1970 Camaro:"

I believe L72Biscayne's response was regarding the "Camaro by Chevrolet" emblem on the deck lid, not the Z28 emblem on the spoiler. The CbC emblem was moved forward of the spoiler on Z28s and when the D80 option was spec'd. As I recall, the emblem was dropped from production in the late-June/July time frame.

For the subject car, I do not see any documentation that the rear spoiler was a factory installed item, so all bets are off.

The build date on the car in Post #1 is 06B (that's if the Trim Tag is real) which would make it the second week of June.

There was a revision in the assy manual discontinuing the "CAMARO by Chevrolet" emblem in early June 1970. By the middle of June thru the end of Production, July 70' the emblem no longer was applied to any model of Camaro.
LOL - seems a moot point thought - nice info to know . . . but it appears that this car has "issues." See post #14

L72Biscayne 06-21-2017 05:03 PM

That makes sense. My Z28 was assembled the third week of June.

Tracker1 06-24-2017 02:03 AM

This car...again...discussed here plenty

Take a look at the buildsheet, no solid evidence of L78

It's been through Chev Connection and that is NOT a good sign according to those on here that have knowledge of that organization. Been at BJ at least three times. I was advised to AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

L78steve 06-24-2017 10:17 PM

No solid proof of L78 but the 3.55 axle is L78 only and Box 97 states 396/375 label.
