Queen City COPO
Hi SYC,
Wanted to share a few pics of my new purchase. Code 57 Fathom Green COPO Camaro. Big thanks to Doug Perry and Dave McGaffee for helping me with the purchase. This car was sold new from Queen City Chevrolet in Cincinnati. Funny thing is I have driven by their old lot on my way to work for 18 years and didn't even know it. Please check out the "427" markings that were found under the front fenders! The car came from Dick Weinle's personal collection. Dick has owned Edgewater Sports Park since 1979 and held an NHRA record. The car was definitely raced and has a few battle scars. If anyone remembers this car from it's race days, please let me know. X44 05A Car 19,000 on the clock Original sheet metal minus the hood an inner fenders Original glass Original drive train gone Car does have a correct 512 427 block Brodix heads https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_1561.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_1563.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_1564.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_1566.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_1578.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_1585.jpg |

Re: Queen City COPO
Thanks for all the nice comments. Yes Bruce, I could have slept in the garage for sure!
Here are a few more details and pics. Not sure on the Tranny Ryan. Love the Pete pic. I work at the corner of Court and Vine. lol.. Dan, I want to put the cowl hood back on it and a set of Cragars and that's it. It's going to the Super Car Reunion this Summer for some fun. If I ever go down the road of restoration, I would take the path of Grady's car for sure. I've always liked the Day 2 look. If I can find some decals, before July, I'm going to letter it up for the reunion. I forgot to mention that the car came with #723 mid-night green interior. It still has the original door panels, wheel, kick panels, and headliner which have all been dyed black! You can see the green around the edges Here's a few more pics of the floors and some COPO specific shots. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-fuel_line.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_1599.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_1600.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_1601.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_1602.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_1603.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_1607.jpg |

Awesome Jason! That car could not have gone to a better home. Can't wait to see it making some good hard passes at the Reunion.

Re: Queen City COPO
The rivets on the trim tag are like nothing I seen before. Anyone know about them?
|
Re: Queen City COPO
I think your seeing the seam sealer that forms a round blob ? I would guess it was pushed in from the back.

Mike </div></div> Yes, that is correct. Looks fine to me. |
Re: Queen City COPO
I will post a close up of the TT. I don't believe it's ever been off the car.
I have made contact with two of the previous owners. The car was raced on the street and at the track for most of it's early life. It was painted black and wore a blue stripe. After it's racing days, it was stored indoors until it was sold. He has pictures of the car for me from the early 80's. I hope to have them by next weekend. Can't wait! I believe I'm one owner away from the original owner! More to come... |
Re: Queen City COPO
ive seen the seam sealer through the rivets like that before absolutely fine.
