1969 Chevelle

I was asked to post this picture as we were wondering if it's a real 1969 Chevelle SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan and if anyone new anything about it.

The reason I'm asking as the car has a "Rocker Spear" which isn't supposed to be on a SS but as we all know.....never say never.

Steve Koppien is out of SD and is a friend of Don Breen out of AZ. I believe Steve has/had an original COPO Camaro. "B/SA" means at least a 427 engine in this car. I'm guessing '72 - '74 for when this photo was taken??

I will forward this to him and see if he knows more.

hmmm, spears and wheel opening moldings..I like the look! wheel opening mlds would have come with the SS. If anyone has a original window sticker for a SS post car it would say in the comments below. For my post it says..body sill molding..( non SS ).in the comment section at the bottom..good question!!

edit: is it a real SS car?

That looks like Thunder Valley Dragways in SD.

Re: 1969 Chevelle

I heard from Don last eve. Yes, that is Thunder Valley. The Chevelle is racing as a 475 Horse Turbo 400 set up. The car started life as a 307 auto. Steve K traded Don for the '68 SS hood seen in the photo.

Don also reported this - if you can help out spread the word:

THERE IS GOING TO BE A 50 YEAR ANNIVERSERY THIS YEAR JUNE 10 – 11 EMAIL OR CALL ME FOR MORE INFO. WE ARE TRYING TO GET ALL THE OLD RACERS TOGETHER FOR THIS . Don Breen [email protected]

Steve Koppien picked this ride up in the eighties, raced it a bunch, and is now restoring it. Its a real COPO.....

I'd love to do a plain jane 300 Chevelle like this, same color, set up for race. When I clear the other 1000 things on my list of stuff to do.
