Sold at auction 2 weeks ago in NC for $36,000. Seller (who has a dealer's licence) is asking $65k. Look hard at the engine stamp before buying....

I think this is ome of those cars that you need to see in person. Look closely at the dash and you can see that it was red originally.

Re: 67 396-375 ebay #11736806345

I really like the car the trim tag claims it to be. A Tahoe Turquoise, bench seat, L78...pretty odd and cool. Phil, Mark in your opinion is it legit? Mark you mention the red dash, do you think it has been replaced or was it color changed at some point in its life? And you both mention the block stamping. I'm just starting to look for a 67 and being that you're both L78 owners your thoughts are appreciated.

Re: 67 396-375 ebay #11736806345

the car is legit, and so is the tag, the dash was probably replaced, I remember the car back in 2009 when it was in PA it was unrestored under the hood and inside. I believe it had all its original panels, I might have a old pic of it on a old computer I'll have to look, I was going to go look at it back then but never did, the motor was the big question back then, now it has a bunch of reproduction parts added to it, if you have a interest ID ask for the original parts. very cool car.

Re: 67 396-375 ebay #11736806345

Tag looks good to me. Rattle can resto underhood and underneath...everything is black! Wrong carb etc. I asked the owner a number of questions on the phone and while he seemed like a nice enough guy, he avoided answering how long he owned it, whether it was titled in his name etc. then he mentioned having a dealer's licence for insurance purposes and I knew it was a flip. That's when I started looking for previous sales and found the auction results.

Bench seat stick cars are pretty unusual machines. So many of them got converted to bucket seats later in their lives making survivors that much more rare. Phil has one, it's way cool.

The rarest bench seat stick Camaro I've ever seen was a 1967 Z at Carlisle. It is believed to be the only one in existence. Anybody know if there were any 1968 L78s or Z28s optioned this way?

There was a bench seat 68 L78 for sale within the last year from Florida, it was last listed on cars online.

Was that car black with gold interior?

No Steve it was Bolero Red with a black interior and a factory 8-track player. I think the car you're thinking of is Phil's L78, which is black with a gold bench. It too was at Carlisle.

The bench seat Z was on the cover and had a 5 page color spread in the now defunct "Muscle Car Enthusiast" magazine. June 2010 issue.
