Re: New Project
It's funny that these Boss 9s sat on dealer lots like many of the COPO Camaros. Mine was shipped to the dealer 11/3/69 and sold 8/27/70. Invoice price was $5,111.70. Restrictive exhaust manifolds & rev limiter really hurt the quarter mile times. 429 was a NASCAR engine that came into it's own at higher RPM.

Unloaded the Boss 9 this morning. Interior in this car is amazing - even carpets are good.

Re: New Project
I had one that same color years ago. The problem was I could not let out the clutch unless I sat kind of sideways. Otherwise my knee would hit the steering wheel or get jammed between the wheel and the door panel.

Re: New Project
- It's not too cramped for me. The worst was this car! Had to change the wheel to a 13" Moto Lita to even sit in it!
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...27-cobra_2.png Back to the Boss 9 - tank & lines cleaned, fluids changed, new battery, etc. Tomorrow is "start day". Waking it up after a long slumber. |
Re: New Project
Cleaned out the carb, changed the power valve - started right up on the first turn of the key - whew!!!!

Re: New Project
Awesome to hear!

Re: New Project
Looking the car over more. Verifying what I saw at inspection, Appears OE drive train. Block is correct 429HP with vin stamp @ rear of block, trans is RUGAZ with vin stamp up top, rear is correct 3.91 RUG with good date for car. Researching ownership history - I'm back to 1974. Like most of these supercars, interesting story to tell.

Re: New Project
Tracked ownership back to the second owner on 1975. Got this picture from one of the owners - believed to be late 70s vintage. Turns out I'm the 8th owner. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...a_late_70s.jpg

Very cool!!!

Re: New Project
I know you were looking for a dated carburetor. Was the one that was on it a service piece or just an incorrectly dated one?
|
Re: New Project
Son of a Beech that is a nice BOSS 9. Wicked score Bergy!!!

Re: New Project
I found the correct carb - original part # & date correct for the car. Then sent it to Eric to work his magic. Eric even went out of his way to help me get the engine running correctly. He's the best. The other carb was dated too early for my car (December '68 - good for a '69 Boss 9 though). I put it on eBay with a reasonable (I thought) BIN of $3,500.00. It sold in about 5 minutes!
