Gen Six...

Anyone excited to see the Gen Six Camaro? I am very interested to see what they've come up with.
I've seen a few depictions online and they look pretty cool, but who knows what it will really look like.
Only a few more days...

Camaro Six

And for a comparison. Looks to be more of a fastback styling..

Just leaving Detroit from the reveal. Kids in attendance went crazy over the redesign.

Base SS will turn faster track times than the current SS 1 LE.

Museum display was great. Pictures when I get home.

Honestly, it looks like a new Mustang from the side. Same lines.

Dammit! They just get further and further away from the 69' they were trying to replicate!! It's going to take a lot of "it has to grow on you" before I will even think about getting one of these. The rebodied 69's look more and more pleasing for the $$. TAZ

Re: Gen Six...

I like the design. I did see a design on line that was done by a random person that I liked a little better that had some styling cues from the 2nd gens, but so far I think it looks pretty good. Will have to wait until I see it in person.

Always liked 5th gen side, rear, and rear quarter views, but the head-on look just never did it for me. Didn't help that the front bow-tie was so big. With the 6th Gen, I think they did much better as all views look good with modern styling cues and an aggressive look. Can't wait to see the specialty versions debut (Z, ZL1). Re: Gen Six...

I can't say I really like the looks of the 6th gen Camaro; it hardly looks any different than the 5th gen, to me anyway. That new front grill looks way to much like Lexus' grilles, one of the ugliest grilles I've ever seen. It has that squashed top look still with the sides way too high and roof way too low. I do like the rear end view. I am also disappointed that they only shaved off about 200 lbs. I was hoping for more like 400 lbs. less than the 5th gen. I do like the numbers for the engine; can't wait for some performance figures. I guess they have to call it a 6th generation Camaro because the chassis or platform is all new, alpha replacing the zeta. In overall styling though I would have a hard time telling the new one from a 5th gen. I think there was a bigger styling difference going from the 1970-73 Camaro to the 1974-77's and then to the 1978-81's than from the 5th gen to the new one. All in all I am disappointed in the new 6th gen, styling wise definitely not engineering wise, and don't foresee buying a new one.

It is better than gen 5 in about every way.

Agreed. I like this much better than the outgoing car.

Dealer near me has a low mile /one owner 2016 Camaro convertible 2SS (automatic) for sale. Have read primarily positive things about this model but would welcome others experience or input. Often wondered about the sight lines while driving this model including just viewing out the front window.

How important is the Magnetic Ride Control option?

Thanks.

markinnaples 12-17-2021 07:44 PM

I had a 2017 RS Convertible for a couple years and loved it. It's not the easiest vehicle to see out of, especially the rear window, but it wasn't dangerous or anything just not like driving a 90's Honda or anything. Even the V6 has had great acceleration and drove wonderfully. We are actually looking for a newer SS convertible as well.
