New Member - New Wheels
Hi All - I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say hello and tell you about my newest car.
69 Copo Camaro RS. Canadian car with GM Canada Docs. Some of the options are..... RS, Endura bumper, spoilers, rally wheels and M22 trans. All matching and has most of the proper components......I need to straighten out a bunch of detail items....but a nice, solid car all around. Already have the correct tires on order as well as some detail items. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...o_home_jb1.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...copo_rear2.jpg |

Great car. Mike |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
Beautiful car! Post some more pictures once you get all the details straightened out. Is this the same COPO Camaro that was at Barrett Jackson in 2010?
|
Re: New Member - New Wheels
That is one of the highest option COPO Camaros I have ever heard of. Congrats!
How about bringing it to MCACN VII, we need to balance out all those Hemi Convertibles with some Kool Super Cars. |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
Thanks everyone!
Yes - It is the same car from B-J.....my buddy bought it back then. Before I bought we crawled all over it to make sure it was right....and it was! It has all its good stuff.....need to straighten out some brackets, fasteners, tires, hoses.....mostly a bunch of detail items....nothing huge. I will post more pics as it gets "prettied-up" Thanks Steve - It was great meeting you at Chicago...and letting me play with the Vintage Mopar stuff....Haha! Stefano - Thanks......quite an honor indeed! Maybe I'll bring it along with the stuff my "brother from another mother" may be bringing....hopefully my old rag and who knows what else... Lol. |

Re: New Member - New Wheels
Beautiful Car Jim. Interesting to see the selling Dealer as Addison, they were known more for their Cadillac sales as a premium downtown Toronto dealer.
I was in Toronto in the spring of 69 doing a visit to U of Toronto. HMMMMMMM |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
Thanks! The older GM Canada paperwork that I got with the car had Chevy Yonge as the dealer. The new GM paperwork I ordered (and posted above) now says Addison. I questioned GM on that......because of the same thing you mentioned....they were Caddy....and probably Pontiac/Buick as well. At first he said they didn't have all the dealership info a few years back and did the best they could. I asked him again yesterday and he is going to double-check. It still is a Toronto sold car...as I have spoken to many of the earlier owners of it. Just need to narrow it down as to which one. I looked at an original owner, original paint Copo today and it had a B&A badge on the tail panel....that was British and American motors.

Re: New Member - New Wheels
Welcome aboard Jim! Your car looks absolutely stunning, do you have any history of it between the original sale and more recent years? B & A ordered other Copo cars but were bought out by Addison so yours could have been delivered from there too, best is confirm dealer code # w/ actual info & not just what GM Vintage services crosses over to & provides now. Others here on the site may be able to offer more info on these dealers as some kept using codes of dealers they absorbed, some didn't...Midyr Lance is one also 427Strato who posted here recently may have B & A info too. Best of luck w/ everything! ~ Pete |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
I have some vintage Goodyear studded snow tires that would be perfect for your climate!
Awesome car by the way |
Re: New Member - New Wheels

I have spoken with three of the previous owners so far....the MTO used vehicle report only went back to 1973 so I haven't found the original owner yet. B & A were bought out by Addison? I will call GM now and ask for further clarification. The car I looked at yesterday actually has a B & A metal emblem on the tail panel.....which kind of suggests they were still around at the beginning of '69. I need to get a shipping date on that car as well. I'll let you know if I get any new info. Thanks, Jim |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
Does anyone know the dealer# for B & A (British and American) ?
|
Re: New Member - New Wheels
Sorry, I don't have the B & A dealer code but again best check in w/ site members mentioned above/below. Again Lance is a great guy w/ lots of Toronto dealer knowledge also I believe 427Strato has/had a B & A delivered Copo Chevelle, one of a few they had ordered. The B & A Avenue Rd. building was designed by well known Toronto architect E.J. Lennox, built in 1913/1914 it was known originally as the Wolseley Motor Car Co. Demolished in the 70's, today the location of an upscale condo development called Hazelton Lanes. Yes I believe they were bought out by Addison around 69/70 and here's all I have on file below, please post their dealer code here if you do come up w/ it. Welcome Jim ! Great to have another Canadian COPO on Board !

Re: New Member - New Wheels
Thanks again all! The blue Copo Camaro I looked at the other day (original owner car....owner died and now the nephew has it) had a B & A emblem on the back exactly like the one Pete posted.....Thanks for that Pete! Trying to get a glimpse of the GM report on that one to see if they listed B & A as the selling dealer....and the delivery date. This one has the "Camaro" script on the fenders (like mine)and the pinstripes (not on mine). Here is a really bad couple pics of it... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0219_00769.jpg

Re: New Member - New Wheels
The emblems on the front fenders came both ways ....Camaro script and Rally Sport ....My blue car and Charlie's Orange car both had R/S spelled out on fenders

Re: New Member - New Wheels
My 69 Olds 442 W30 was sold at British & American Chevrolet (1508) Ltd. in Toronto.
The dealer code on my Protecto-plate 95-517. The dealership address on the paper is : 77 Avenue Road, Toronto, Ontario. Cheers, Sam |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
Well done guys!!
This great information grows each day!! I will post my dealer code off my POP and paperwork on my thread next week in case someone else is looking for info. Ryan |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
Thanks Sam for confirming the B&A Dealer code and address! Wow @ all the Toronto Dealer cars around here lately!!! Re: New Member - New Wheels
Nice work everyone! My original GM paperwork said Chevy Yonge before they amended it to Addison. Does anyone have anything on Chevy Yonge? Tried Google - no luck. Thanks.

Re: New Member - New Wheels
My 1971 Pontiac Trans Am was sold at Addison originally

Re: New Member - New Wheels
Makes sense that as Addison acquired dealers there code would be recognized as Addison years later. A frinds W31 was sold new in Alberta and that was confirmed from GM Vintage in the 80's. When a later owner did a search around 2002, the dealer code had been assigned to an Ontairo dealer. Creates confusion.
As far as Jims Camaro is concerned, I could not imagine this coming from Addison on Bay in 1969 as they were Cadillac, Buick and Pontiac. |

The second owner (I have not tracked down the original owner....yet) seemed to remember that the original owner told him he bought it new in Toronto....but not right downtown. So that leaves B&A - as they were later acquired by Addison, or the mysterious "Chevy Yonge" which the previous GM Canada paperwork showed. Would love to know more about them. Well......at least we know it was sold in Canada for sure! |
Re: New Member - New Wheels
I got this from GM Canada......." there is much confusion with this dealer code 95517, it was British American Chev till around 69, Chevy Yonge Holdings 73-80 and Parkwood Central in 1991".
So - Unless there is a totally clear dealer code on GM's microfiche or I find the original owner and he tells me....I think the safest bet is either British American or maybe even Chevy Yonge.... probably not Addison. What makes sense to you guys? I have no definitive answer....other than I do know it was a Toronto sold car. |
