1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
I know it sold at BJ Las Vegas in 2013 for $135K.
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Lol, I drove that car over the block.
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Anyone besides JM confirm that this was a real deal LS6?
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Didnt know JM did LS6 Chevelles CONVERTIBLES!!
Sorry if that was real then somebody got a deal of a lifetime... |
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
I don't the car, but I looked at it and was also shocked to see it only bring $150k plus commission. Read the sign and it stated original and JM certified, but something has to be very, very wrong if a red LS6, M22 convertible only brings $150k????

Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Its not the first time the car did clone money......
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Maybe that is the new market value for them.
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
"Maybe that is the new market value for them."........Ok, then the new market for copos is 330K

Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
John Hill's Shadow gray hardtop sold for $160K hammer price, which seems to me like very strong money....go figure

Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
----Maybe timing had something to do with these two sales. If the convert went off late enough bidders may have dwindled down to nothing. I had it happen to me......Bill S

Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Rich. Jerry M now works for B-J doing inspections so he is certifying a lot of different cars, many of them LS6's.
As far as market value, the Misty Turquoise LS6 convert I restored sold a couple of months ago for 68 Yenko money. Second time in 7 years it has brought that kind of money. |
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
SS427 - any idea why the red LS6 vert keeps selling so cheap (relatively)?

Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Here's a link to the car advertised @ BJ Las Vegas 2013 as mentioned above. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Archi...ERTIBLE-157906 The statement posted below is interesting, especially w/ respect to how matching #'s actually means original drivetrain components again. ~ Pete From this link... http://z28camaro.com/wp/barrett-jackson-auctions/ In the Fall of 2012, Jerry MacNeish and Norman Meads were hired by Vice President of Consignment, Gary Bennett, at The Barrett Jackson Auction Company. Our job is to authenticate all restored first-generation Camaros, Nova’s and Chevelle’s that are consigned to all Barrett Jackson auctions. Our mission is to protect the consigners and buyers who attend these auctions by verifying that the description on all vehicles is correct. If the description states that the car is number’s matching, it is our job to verify and certify that the drive train in the car is original to the car. If it is not, the consigner must change the description of the vehicle. Due to all of the fraud and misrepresentation in the car hobby today, Barrett Jackson is going the extra distance to bring honesty back to the collector car hobby. Jerry MacNeish and assistant, Norman Meads attend all Barrett Jackson auctions and work on site. This includes Scottsdale, Arizona in January, Palm Beach, Florida in April, Reno, Nevada in August and Las Vegas, Nevada in September. If you plan on a future purchase at Barrett Jackson, be assured that all of the automotive specialists on staff will work with you on your purchase. |
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
I see its OK to sell rebodies as long as its worded like finding Waldo!! They belong in a dumpster, its illegal but who cares I guess.....
You cant find a real LS6 convert(documented)and restore it for that price while Pratts garbage cars were selling for more!!! If this is the market I got two or three clients wanting one!! LOL!!! Hardtops bring this kind of money!! |
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
So BJ is guaranteeing authenticity of cars now, thats great news.
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
What happens when the "Authenticator" says he's "not sure if the stamp is real" and that "all of these cars were ordered for racing-and all the engines were blown up". It happened this year in Scottsdale...
To me, it either is a good stamp-or it isn't?!? |
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Not saying this car is a rebody!! Just getting a little bothered by rebodies being ok to sell in today's market and it seems to be ok for others...
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Are you saying that not one of the cars you have EVER sold or represented have been, restamps, rebodies or frauds?
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
NEVER me KNOWING!!! How about you??? I dont have a huge overhead, so I try very hard to pick & choose cars that I broker under my name for 20yrs!! I have dropped numerous cars threw the years that I found out that had issues!! Funny thing is the cars that ended up having issues were INSPECTED by some of the best in the business and got by them!! Is it OK to sell rebodies as long as its (hidden)somewhere in the description?? Some people find value in a fender tag switch from a rare car to a 6 banger car and now its a million dollar car!!
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
when you say rebody, how much of the body do you mean is changed. Sheet metal, body, chasis? When is it considered a rebody? Thanks. hope this is not straying off topic.
|
Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Wannarun, If any numbers have been moved from one car to another... its a rebody. If you replace the body and reinstall the original numbers from the original body to that new body...Its a rebody.

Re: 1970 lS6 CONVERTIBLE
Thats quite a website of rare inventory you have there. I had to get to page 4 before I found a car I could qualify for a loan for.
