Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
The eBay Line Loc from 64-65 is one of the First issues. (LINE LOC) repro Decals are on eBay regularly (nasty looking faded prints)
The white button matched the the White HURST shifter knobs of the day. The solenoid is strange though, with the shield. Note the Chrome tape in the bottom of the box. Next came the CHROME Buttons with a small Hurst Decal & a Small cadmium/phosphate solenoid with side inlet/outlet. Circa 1967-70. These came with Chrome tape to wrap the switch wires to the Chrome Handles.. LINE LOC / ROLL CONTROL Era; The Yenko Nova has a release date of 71-72 style kit with a Black Button (stubby) with (Hurst Decal). This style had the longest run, through late 70's. Some Late 70's - mid 80's had a longer solenoid and a thin black switch marketed in a new style Black/Red/Yellow Box. ROLL CONTROL; The newest versions have the aluminium finned heat dispators ...... Judging Points ???? |
Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Thank you for the info Day 2. I did know mine was a 70-71 issue as we tried to get it as close to the cars delivery date. Had no idea that made them that early.

2 Attachment(s)
2nd issue , era 67-70.
Some solenoids have the white HURST decal, Some have HURST Stamped into the solenoid body.. ... I'm not sure what years had either but I'm thinking the earlier ones were stamped. any clarification ? |
Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Yep,
RST, You have an accurate period correct kit on the car. It's the same one I used on my car. Late 69 Z/28 circa 70-72 Day 2 Build Tom |

Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
----Not too pertinent, but Red Alert had the line lock wires plumbed into the horn buttons! Worked awesome, and was kind of stealth,,,if anything about "Red A" can be considered stealth.......Bill S

Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Nothing confirmed in Iron !
Keep in mind the various suppliers, vendors and retailers, wholesale houses, using "Era" as a guide and issued years is purely hypothetical as we see here with receipts, dates and pics of various items.. Some inventory takes months, years to sell. Thank sYc for having an open forum for any and all to contribute. These Day 2 Parts are a specialized area that needs more input and insight......some of us really want the era, year, month pieces on our cars or displays. |
Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Paul,
yours looks like the second issue box with chrome switch ... the solenoid is similar to the 65 issue, I've had both styles of white boxes with different solenoids and switches. I also have had newer black boxes with 'old contents'. Stahl, Moroso, Lakewood & Hurst shared & infringed on each others suppleriers too. You'll see that with Mr.Gasket stuff too......Some items look "repackaged" or Reboxed. Sal Biondo has a Roll Control/line loc solenoid on today's market that's similar to 30-40 year old ones. Sometimes we need to use a rule of thumb ,seat of our pants as a guide. |

Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Hey guys, got a call tonight about a barn in Quakertown which hosted a bunch of Hurst stuff for years. A box of paperwork with some of my Father-in-law's stationary, memo notes etc was uncovered. The guy is reuniting it with Wayne. I suspect we'll be seeing some of this stuff for sale on the net soon.
I asked Wayne to see if he runs accross anything to help us date these line locs and stuff. We'll see! |
Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
My collection drawer and cabinet just got bigger.....some of that stuff and paperwork needs to be in Western Pa.
Paul, seriously, I could use a few more pieces for my car & display,,, not to re-sell. Tom |
Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
I'm anxious to see what turns up too. We'll see...

*****This is a newer box....note the Hurst Shifter logo. ..80'-90's . Is the switch long and thin or more stubby ? Decal on it to match the 'new style logo' ? The paper work has been used, re-used , duplicated because of the © of HURST Print since '69. I Sold a nearly identical box, instructions & kit some months ago from this site to a member. It had the same switch in red.***** https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-p1010001.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-p1010002.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-p1010003.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-p1010004.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-p1010005.jpg </div></div> |

Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
eBay...they pop up allot there. Vintage ones have the "cast" line around the middle. Like a small ridge around the center.

Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Thank you for posting. I've had it about 12 years and always thought it was older. Now that I dug it out and took some pic's maybe I'll see if they like it on ebay. Tom.

Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
I think the black box with the orange and yellow stripes is older too. When I bought my line lock in 1992 it was the newer aluminum finned job is a different style box.
That black with red/orange/yellow was all the rage in the mid 1970's. There were lots of cars carrying that theme then. I would have bet 1975 for a rough date. http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...ss7aqym74.jpeg |
Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Paul,,,
Its the Hurst Shifter design that gives it away.... the triangle pointed shifter was first used in the early 80's. Tom, what are you thinking as a selling price on your kit ? |
Re: Vintage Hurst line Loc
Thanks for pointing that our Tom. I was a bit thick headed, but I'm sure I ain't alone. Got it now and here is where the ads started to change with the newer logo.
Here is a 1981 Ad: http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...psee0c56f1.jpg And here is a 1982 Ad: http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps1cf3cefa.jpg Cheers to you Tom! |
