Re: Field find
Wow... congrats!
Sept 4th week - must be one of the last built. Original motor? trans? rear? |
Re: Field find
That's cool. Is the first shot out behind your building?

Re: Field find
Valve Reliefs in the pistons - what's the story Charley? lo-po motor swapped in during the 70s?
|
Re: Field find
Nice find - did you ever find out about the Rally Sport emblems? I think that Doug might have run into the same thing.
|
Re: Field find
That is a good looking field.
|
Re: Field find
Very cool find..BKH
|
Re: Field find
engine and rear got swapped out because the man gave it to his wife to drive and the 410 gear and big block did not work well. He put a smallblock and 10 bolt in. Fender appears to be orig paint so I think the RS emblem is orig. Car got backed into by someones Mom so he put a new fender on it and then it sat...and sat.......On a cart is the CE warranty block with incorrect heads.
|
Re: Field find
Thats the 3rd orange Copo that has turned up in recent years in Texas, including the Nova Scotia car. What is the selling dealer? Nice field find.
|
Re: Field find
Very Cool!
Can you verify that the Rally Sport on the fender is original so we can put to rest "they did not come that way" issue? |
Re: Field find
Wow!!! Need to hear the story on that one. And I know you know better, but I hope you set a few dozen mousetraps inside that car before you brought it into your building!
|
Re: Field find
Tail panel isn't blacked out.Is that typical for an X-11 COPO?
|
Re: Field find
No COPO's had black out tail panels except for the 01B X66 Yenko's...BKH
|
Re: Field find
Nice find! I seem to recall seeing that car in a photo... Was it the rotting musclecars thread?
|
Re: Field find
At least the Gas Monkey Garage guys didn't get a hold of that one.............

Very nice find.....

Re: Field find
Amazing car Charley, congrats!
What a great display this would make at the MCACN as found showcase. |
Re: Field find
Very cool Charley! Pics of headlight washer nozzles? RS door stops on rad support? Wiper motor with RS washer? RS tail light harness? It's another data point helping to confirm that RS cars did come with either Camaro script OR RS emblems on fenders (as Stefano mentioned).

Re: Field find
Mine is also a 9d copo RS that I purchased out of Texas. Silver x11 with vinyl top. I am looking forward to getting the shipping info.

Re: Field find
I believe the fender is orig but it had paint work done on it. The pinstripes are redone on the fender. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_4592.jpg

Re: Field find
That is one awesome find. Right color and a RS to boot. Body and supports look pretty good for sitting up in a field as well.
Congrats on the find. Rich |

Re: Field find
I have no desire to restore or clean this thing. My goal it to trade it for a really nice first gen Z28. I was told it was sold new at Steakley ? Chevrolet of Dallas.
|
Re: Field find
Many years ago I found a 1970 L78 Chevelle sold there. It was Zone 07,Dealer 698,and later became Dealer 700 in the late 90's.
Steakley Brothers Chevrolet (aka CHEVY-TOWN USA) was located on the NW corner of either 5411,or 6411 East Northwest Highway at Abrams in Dallas Tx. during mid 1960's. The Steakleys were heavy into drag racing and also had a Chevy dealer in Waco,Tx. & Temple Tx. prior I learned. The Steakleys sold out to the AutoNation dealership group a few years ago and it was then renamed Bankston Chevrolet. Bankston has now closed up,but their buildings still remain there today I'm told it's an abandon furniture store. http://letterstotheeditorblog.dallas...2/09/staek.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7047/6...f8c2a850_z.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8460/...c34060b3_n.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...eakleyBros.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...lyChadwick.jpg ..earlier family history. http://www.deleonhandbook.com/De_Leo...ok/Chevys.html http://www.deleonhandbook.com/De_Leo...d%20Carter.jpg A Document on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cleburne-TX-1952...=item1c40683d57 http://img6.newspapers.com/img/thumb..._7223_9421.jpg http://img3.newspapers.com/img/thumb..._7230_9607.jpg http://img1.newspapers.com/img/thumb..._6999_9593.jpg http://img2.newspapers.com/img/thumb..._7049_9270.jpg |
