Re: This one's got it ALL!
OK, I was not going to go off just yet on another L89 car. Here is the e mail I just set Phil when he asked me my thoughts on this beauty, it does sit nice ?
Phil I would not believe it untill I saw the paperwork ? It would be odd if a Norwood car had any kind of a broadcast sheet, could be Van Nuys ? If it is so great why did they not even show a picture of the cowl tag ? That way we would know if the chambered exhaust is correct. Black car with a black grill ? Not ! Wrong steering wheel too. I also did not know that the L89 heads were High flow and released additional HP ? If I were advertising a real car I would showcase all the paper for sure. We will see. Mike |
Re: This one's got it ALL!
wasn't this car discussed here a month ago?

Re: This one's got it ALL!
The seller is responsible for the description, and the buyer is responsible to due their homework. It is not not mecum's responsiblity! But when the car comes on the block, i would just announce that mecum has not verified it's authenticity.

Re: This one's got it ALL!

Sorry but that's a cop-out being the words 'well documented' is included as part of Mecum's title line for the vehicle. Not that bogus info on descriptions/paperwork/placards etc should be acceptable either but the auction co. shouldn't be letting consigners verse their titles too. What of phone bidders who read info online etc but aren't there to hear verbal disclaimers? ~ Pete |

Mecum Disclaimer: Information found on the website is presented as advance information for the auction lot. Photos, materials for videos, descriptions and other information are provided by the consignor/seller and is deemed reliable, but Mecum Auction does not verify, warrant or guarantee this information. The lot and information presented at auction on the auction block supersedes any previous descriptions or information. Mecum is not responsible for information that may be changed or updated prior to the auction. The decision to purchase should be based solely on the buyers personal inspection of the lot at the auction site prior to the auction.
My opinion, If you have this kind of wealth to purchase such a car; then you have the time, money, means and resources to vet it's authenticity. Is this the car from Ledgendary motor's in canada? |

<span style="font-weight: bold">"descriptions and other information are provided by the consignor/seller and is deemed reliable, but Mecum Auction does not verify, warrant or guarantee this information".</span>
Still, if Mecum knew or should have known about issues that would amount to fraud, I don't know that this will get them off the hook. <span style="font-weight: bold">"My opinion, If you have this kind of wealth to purchase such a car; then you have the time, money, means and resources to vet it's authenticity."</span> I have to respectfully disagree. It is OK to lie and cheat a wealthy guy just because he had the resources to stop you from cheating him, but chose to believe you? I don't think so. Not saying that one SHOULDN'T have the car verified. Just saying the real blame shouldn't be on the rich guy who didn't discover the fraud. The real blame goes to the guy who COMMITTED the fraud. If this car is counterfeit, then calling the docs "factory documentation" is fraud. Period. |
Re: This one's got it ALL!
Based on that pic, I don't believe the car pictured had a factory tach either.

Re: This one's got it ALL!
I was looking over the auction this morning and ran across a rare 69 chevelle with matching numbers 396/375 that has factory air. and a cast intake. hmm. you would think someone at mecum would catch that stuff and tell the owner to correct it
