1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Jim Hanke (Wheelhop) purchased this Azure Turquoise 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan, currently I believe it`s a 1 of 1, unless another ever pops up. Very neat color.
Congrats Jim http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...an2012/413.png Dan |

Dan </div></div> Dan, I just edited my post to say "I believe". Although Andy (69SSchevelle), has been keeping records of 1969 Chevelle trim tags and has a pretty good idea (theory) of when the cars were built. Kurt |
Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Never assume as......you know what that means, LOL!
Plus, this is NOT just "another Post car" It`s a REAL SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan, there is a difference! Dan |
Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Great find!

Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Great find Jim... Dan it depends on how close the VIN's are and it could be possible the same day even the same shift... You never know???

Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Jim,
Congrats! Nice John O. 180 degree car hauling trick. Looking forward to seeing her it person. So far this is a 1 of 1, 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan in #55 = Azure Turquoise color. Do it right, make her all stock! This car is very rare and unique. Glad you finally got her home. Dan |

I hauled it home backwards because the front windshield is gone.

Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
I got a look at Jim's car yesterday. It's a very solid piece. No drop on opening the doors at all. Floors need some attention, and some usual stuff, but a very cool piece. Gonna look killer done.

Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Any idea on what it was built with powertrain-wise?
|
Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
That is going to be a really neat piece when it's done.
I'm not a chevelle guy is 752 Blue interior? |
Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Code 752 is Black Vinyl Bench. The post cars were only available with 3 interior colors (black, blue, green).
All had rubber floor mats. Drivetrain for this car is gone. there are two fuel lines so it would have been a L34 or L35 car with a manual transmission. 12-bolt, 3:31 non-posi rear. I enjoyed visiting Deuce Heaven yesterday (Donahue, IA) and meeting Ken and his wife. |

Congrats Jim.
This is going to be a cool car when it's done (day-2). It was built the same week as mine and <span style="font-style: italic">possibly </span>the same day. Kurt |

took the azure turquoise SS post to Ken at "Deuce Heaven" on Thursday.
He's going to get started on the sheetmetal repair. |
Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
I know that color is rarely seen on '69 Camaros not to mention Chevelles! Good luck with the restoration!

Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
James, I see you use AMD sheet metal. How is the fit and ease of install? I bought their quarters and rear body panels for my 70 z28 project. Can't wait to get to work on it.

Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Ken,
got the replacement floor so he may chime in. He told me it slipped right in but he really knows what he's doing! |
Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
I was very happy with the fit with this piece. I had not put in a complete Chevelle floor before. Many Camaros, and Novas, but this was a 1st on a Chevelle. I would use this part again.
All reproduction parts have small nuances. When you work with them long enough, you adjust/ modify for them. Many have the same small issues NOS pieces have. That's why God invented mig welders, and plasma cutters. (big smile) |

Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Well, not exactly virgin. Depends on the year. Actually had more 66-67 Chevelles than 69s over the years, and that was before you could get full floors so you had to piece them together. Not all that difficult, but full floors are much better.
The Nickey sold came from John Jensen. He had it for quite a while partially done. Sold it to a friend that I've known since high school who had a Lemans blue L78 Chevelle back in the day. We had done a 69 Camaro project with him a year ago. Now he's decided that he needs this Chevelle. It's an L34 4spd. He's arguing with himself about stock, or tweaked. I actually have a Cortez silver 69 SS Chevelle 4spd. Bought from the original owner. Just need to work on it someday. |
Re: 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Chevelle - Puchased
Ken,
Cortez Silver 1969 SS396, 4 speed Chevelle After you finish the Dusk Blue Nickey `69 SS396, you owe it to YOURSELF to finish your Cortez Silver `69 SS396, 4spd.... we are not getting any younger. Dan |
