man you guys looked like you had a blast. Tough deal about the broken parts but its the nature of the beast I guess. ALL those cars are looking real good. 11.80 is some quick ets. in my book Burchy. Way to go guys! Wish I was there. Those BlueStreaks on Grady's car look familiar.

What a fun day. Other than the few break downs.

Thanks to Doug for setting this up and picking a perfect weather day. Grady I believe had his best time yet in the Camaro. My best was 13.25 with 2.73 gears. Could have been better, but the shifting set-up with that car needs some tweaking.

Here are the only two pix that my phone actually saved:

I know how you feel, M22, do the same myself.

Saves all that washing up when going to the Head.

<span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">How do you tell a Pilot from a Mechanic in the Head???

The Pilot washes after...

Dicky, you tryin' to make me pee mt pant's
One time I was in the head and after I was finished, an Airman said, hay, aren't you going to wash your hands ? And I said, no, in the Navy they tought us not to pee on our hands.

After 40 some years of grubbing around cars and planes it finally dawned on me that the glove thing was a good idea, but most of the time I still don't use them.
It was a blast beating on the cars on Friday, I made a couple passes with my little 7&quot; Hurst slicks and ran a new best of 13.45 @ 105. So then, A person that will go unamed thought it would be a good idea to try a set of real slicks...So, I did the burn out, staged, and launched @ 4000, traction was great, car never even move an inch, probably a good thing. If your going to break an axle, no sense in doing it halfway down the track.
I will post some pic's of my broken junk soon.
That car of Phils will be crazy after some 3.73's are installed.
Thanks again Doug for being a great host, and always nice to see Sam. Glad you like the cap too. Now I can tell everyone I helped restore your Deuce

Whew! Good news Mikey. No expert on metals, but looks like there may have been a manufacturing anomaly of the axle at the fracture point. How does it look to you?

Dinitely looks like an old fatigue related stress crack was propagating there Mike. Appears that you've been hard on that beast!

Re: Racing at National Trails, Hebron, Ohio!

That's actually the point there &quot;supposed&quot; to break. After approx 180` of twist. An old race trick is to paint/scribe a line down the shaft to monitor how much twist is going on after a year of abuse. They will twist over time, esp with slicks. Most I've seen fail twards the splines. Haven't seen one like that in a while.

You'll like the Mosers, I'd be putting in new bearings now too. Those old junk axles like to tear them up. Good studs as well.

Good to hear everything else is tip top!!

Interesting notion Steve. Makes sense. So, after your scribed/painted line rotates 180 deg its time for a new axle?

Yuup!

It used to be a more prevelent concept before the days of high dollar axle shafts. I guess today you'd see it more on dirt track cars and stockers. I used it recently when making a new drive shaft, for a extended trailing arm,on a custom bike. Snap snap snap...glad that bike dissapeared!

Re: Racing at National Trails, Hebron, Ohio!

Big, I put new Moser studs in the new axle's. The bearings look good during tear down. Most of the metal was in the left tube.
I was a dope for not putting in new axels along time ago.

Mike
