Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
The defogger was probably a dealer installed item at some point...it is not listed on the original GM of Canada documentation.

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
That report is generated from the original microfiche. I have seen original options missed in the manual transfer of info.
Very Cool Nova! |
Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
I have a copy of the original microfiche showing this car...does anyone know the option code off hand for the defogger ??..I will check the microfiche and report back.

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
----Tom,,,Have to ask about those original plates. Were they special ordered? His initials and 001 seem to be quite a stretch to have just been the next license plate up when he applied. Pretty cool! Do you have those plates? Such a cool Nova.....Bill S

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
"...does anyone know the option code off hand for the defogger ??.." I think it was C49 for that year ,if memory serves me it had been C50 earlier on [67? down].
|
Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
I checked the microfiche...neither of those option codes are listed. Perhaps I have some other info in the "pile of paperwork" that will shed more light. But, it really doesn't matter...the defogger is there.

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
The only code that matters is the L78...

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
Looks like Mr. Beggs offered $10 as a deposit on the car. I wonder if that would work today? lol.
|
Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
Plus, he traded in a 64 Acadian convert, a very rare car.

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
My L78 has the C50 on the build sheet.

Love that color!

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
Started the seat project today...here is the process;
Removed and wrapped the sill plate trim...this is important..very easy to scuff them when you are removing that heavy bench seat. Moved seat all the way forward, unbolted seat belts and rear seat attachment bolts...then slid the seat back. Removed the front bolts and with some help from a friend "we eased her out"...also covered the painted sill and doors to protect them from damage. Rear seat is a little easier to get out with the front one out of the way. Found a partial build sheet in the back...but, it was from another Nova (very common)..I already have an original one in the file. Seats frames were in pretty good shape...light coat of surface oxidation..they will be cleaned and painted before the new covers go on. Should have them back in about 2 weeks...my guy is slammed with the early spring rush! *** the original rubber mats are in nice shape and both front and back have the part numbers and logo stamps. Found this green leaf air freshner...must be an NOS Canadian item Now, for some photos from today and then on to the detailing.. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3277.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3278.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3279.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3284.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3286.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3300.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3302.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3303.jpg Thanks..wilma |

Gotta love that key fob!!
John. |
Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
Nice Wilma. I gotta chuckle when I see your description on your key tag...."1970 Red". Of course a Nova FREAK like you does not have to put "Nova" on any of his key tags!!!!!

Re: 1970 Canadian L78 Nova..
We did some detailing on the red car today..found an interesting item: all of the exhaust system hangers and clamps have "Canada" stamped on them. Now I guess that's not a big thing since the car came from Canada, but it was new to me. I was going to change all the hardware with new shiney stuff...decided to leave them in place... I may clean and paint them though...but they need to be with the car.
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3316.jpg For an older the resto this car has held up great...it's no trailer queen, but it still looks good. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3313.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3312.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3324.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3322.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3325.jpg Eric Jackson "prepped" 4557 http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3332.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3331.jpg axle tube stamping http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_3327.jpg |
