OEM style leaf spring rebound clips

I'm gauging interest on this repop leaf spring clip .

I Was going through some parts that I repoped but don't sell very many anymore and came across these OEM design leaf spring rebound clips. I originally made these for the Bob C who was restoring this T/A at the time. I would do another run of these if there were enough interest. A set includes 4 smaller clips and 2 of the larger ones

Hello, do you still have a set of the OEM style leaf spring rebound clips?

Rfish 10-17-2021 05:49 PM

I’d be interested in a set or 2 also if another run made.

bobs69z 10-18-2021 08:43 PM

Make that 3 of us....

ronzz572 10-19-2021 06:07 PM

I'm also interested in a few sets for 5 leaf springs if still available?

SS427 10-19-2021 07:45 PM

Norwood has not been on here since January of 2019 so I doubt he will see the current interest. I too would be interested in putting a set or two on the shelf. I used one of his sets on the last 70 Camaro I restored (Classic Copper) and was extremely happy with them.

Anybody have a contact for NORWOOD .............regarding the Leaf Spring Bands ???

I'm also looking for the Plastic Rebound Clips that go between the leaves ???

ronzz572 12-30-2023 06:41 PM

Chuck AMK products sell the correct leaf spring rebound straps. They are marketed for the Mustang car. You will need 4 kits to do a 2nd gen camaro because the Mustang spring doesn't use all the correct rebound straps. But 4 kits will get you what you need. I will look up the kit number and send it to you when I get it.

Norwood is regularly on the Pontiac forum maxperformanceinc.com, but it doesn't look like he will be making anymore for at least awhile:

Thanks Ron and Dave,

Dave, Have you read that NORWOOD is sold out of his last batch of Steel Spring Clips

Ron, I'm still wanting info on the plastic pieces , between the leaves ???

Thanks

BCreekDave 12-31-2023 12:05 AM

Chuck
The link I inserted takes you to his response to a recent inquiry for straps.

CamarosRus 12-31-2023 07:32 PM

Does EATON DETROIT Spring still set the Steel Straps with Square Holes ????

Lynn 01-01-2024 12:36 AM

Just curious what these fit.

Look nothing like the riveted ones on my 69 Z/28.

Mr.Nickey Nova 01-02-2024 10:30 AM

I was wondering the same Lynn. Both of my Novas and Camaro have the riveted type also. I always thought the riveted type were factory installed and the square hole type were replacement leafs.

Eaton spring use the flat straps on the 2nd gen F body, They are very different from the first gen F body spring. I don't have a picture of the straps but a suspension picture may help.

Just like everything, there were also two versions of the spring wrap clip. Some had square punched holes and end tabs and others had round punched holes with rounded end tabs. The spring in the top of the picture has the rounded hole. Ron's photo has the square style. Also, you can see the original style of anti-squeak plastic leaf separator with the solid hollow oval and the aftermarket with the split oval that I am pointing to in the photo.

Lynn 01-02-2024 02:04 PM

I was wondering if they were for second gen. The initial post did not specify.

Charlie's old 70 Z should provide good indication of at least one style used in 1970.

CamarosRus 01-02-2024 05:38 PM

Dave, I'm guessing that no one reproduces the "correct" black plastic piece (between spring leaves).....I would be surprised if that was a point deduction in LEGENDS Judging ????
Have you located a vendor that sells the slotted (no original) type ??? Eaton Detroit ???

BCreekDave 01-02-2024 07:48 PM

I have a .stl file for 3D printing the non-slotted type is you are interested.

The slotted type come with the Eaton-Detroit springs. Not sure if they sell them separately or not. I have a few if you are interested. I took apart my new springs and used several of the best of my old ones and printed a few new ones. Surprised a bit that points are not deducted.

Lynn 01-02-2024 08:14 PM

I lucked out. All my old ones were usable.

CamarosRus 01-03-2024 05:19 AM

Dave, I called DAYTON Products Springs today.........Im working on buying the plastic pieces and steel straps, but have already been told that DAYTON may not sell individual
component pieces, but my request is getting moved up the food chain a bit..........

I have NOS Trans Am Leaf Springs (and Sway Bars) that I bought in the early 80's to install in my 70Z, but never got around to it.....These NOS GM Springs have Black Plastic Pieces with SLOTS very much the same as the DAYTON springs I have for another Camaro project...
Have ho idea when the slotted design was started at GM, but wanted to share this info
with anyone interested........

I have a 3D CAD .stp file of the 1st design that I can send you. The second design with the slotted oval is currently made so shouldn't be as much an issue for folks to buy. The material is polypropylene. IM me if you are interested.

thehornworks 01-04-2024 10:41 PM

I have a guy that has a waterjet that cuts horn parts for me. I bet he can cut some straps.
