Re: Day-2 nova guys
Those are even for mono-leaf...I guess I'll keep my multi-leaf ones for that special project...right Sammy!...
|
Re: Day-2 nova guys
Don't think the multi and mono really mean much. They all are the same size stretched out. Its about the bolt that is included with the mono leaf shocks. Really IMO don't matter cause these shocks will probably always get bolted to a set of traction bars anyhow. Just need a bottom shock bolt kit or to the hardware store and make your own set-up. I also believe the other shocks ($1,500) were for a camaro. Like I told you guys nova's don't bring the bucks even in the parts dept.

Re: Day-2 nova guys
Not so fast! I've put multi leaf shocks on a mono leaf car, they ran out of travel,

Re: Day-2 nova guys
Sam, the Novas are the bastard step-children of the Chevy Family.. That's why they don't bring the $$$$$$$$$$$ But that's OK for us Nova guys.. We can get our parts cheaper!!

I was 19, might have messed up the install - but I found out that they didn't work well. I'd try it again though to avoid paying $1,500! |
Re: Day-2 nova guys
yea, actually there is some info on Yahoo that states they are all the same length when open. I just can't believe that Hurst or any other manufacturer would make 100 different types of shocks for different applications in the old days. But I could be wrong. Bolting them to traction bars kinda null and voids the travel issue I would think. No matter what, the camaro versions whether mono or multi leaf will always be the big ticket because of the popularity of the camaro. As they say "stupid money." Also I don't think you messed up the installation. Maybe you had shackles or after market springs that made the rear sit higher or lower? This is the fun of Day-2!

Re: Day-2 nova guys
That's why we all ran shock extensions.
|
Re: Day-2 nova guys
Speaking of Day-2 parts, I'm looking for some headers, valve covers, ignition, fan, and traction bars. Any help? I may not look for shocks, way out of my range!
|
Re: Day-2 nova guys
I think you both might be right, I had shackles and shock extenders - with mono leafs! What kid measures first, then buys tires? We bought the biggest tires we could first, then figured out how to make them fit,
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h6...rp/71Nova1.jpg This setup got me pulled over numerous times - one officer actually pulled out a tape measure, back bumper was too high so he issued me a citation, My dates would slide off the front seat when I hit the brakes if/when a fresh coat of Armour All was recently applied! Re: Day-2 nova guys
Told you I have Traction bars ready to go Jed. Marlin the car looks like it was suppose to look in those days. You were right on.
|
Re: Day-2 nova guys
Speaking of mono vs multi leafs, anyone ever try to install traction bars on mono leafs? They don't work very well. I actually filed a notch in the driver's side mono leaf spring plate in order for it to 'sit right'.
Also, I had a problem with the multi leaf shocks breaking the lower shock bolts on occasion. Got pulled over one night for 'erratic driving' because I lost both lower shock bolts - that car was all over the place.... Rookie days, |
