Holley List 2687 Carb
Does anyone know anything about this carb. It looks like it was designed specifically for the 63 Smokey Yunick 427 "mystery engine". It is a downleg booster, side hung float bowls, and I believe 780 cfm. The info is quite scattered and vague on this carb, probably due to it's low production numbers.
Thanks, Jason |
Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
That LIST number isn't shown in the Holley Black Book.
Any pictures? |
Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
I saw a 2687 on ebay back in Dec 2005 that was said to be a Mystery engine carb too. Have the picture but can't post it. Want I should e-mail it to you?

Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
Jason,
Did you just win the one that was on ebay? A friend spotted it but couldn't figure out what it was until too late. -Matt |
Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
Matt,
Yes, that's the one. It looks to have the wrong base or at least the rivited on piece is gone. Jason |
Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
Looks like a 2818 baseplate is similiar.

Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
Jason, do you know the date on the carb yet?
|
Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
No, I actually should have waited to get the carb before posting this. I will update when I get the carb.
Thanks, Jason |
Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
I received the carb today. It is a very nice unit. The date is 534, so it is a service unit.

Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
The "Mystery Motor" List #2687 is listed in Colvin's book as "1963 427/430 HP Manual Trans." Not a lot of other info besides having a #3825 Front Metering Plate and a #3827 Secondary Metering Plate and center hung floats. It would be interesting to take a set of dial calipers and measure the throttle plates and then the Venturi diameter around the boosters. Then we could figure out the exact CFM of these.

Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
Well, it doesn't appear to have center hung floats, but I have found a few other errors in Colvins books too. I'm still glad I bought a complete set anyway.

Re: Holley List 2687 Carb
Definitely side hung floats. I believe the first center hung floats were the Lemans bowls for the Cobra, then the peanut bowls on 65 Chevys. All butterflies are stamped 172. This along with the downleg boosters says 780 to me.
