69 Z Fuel Pump

Looking for the correct AC Fuel Pump for a 69z, found an NOS one in the original box locally, with 46987 on the box and AC on both sides of the fuel pump. The fuel pump also has 296U40867 stamped on the edge where it mounts to the block. Can anyone confirm this is the right application? Paid $60 for it so figure it's a good deal if it's the right one.

Re: 69 Z Fuel Pump

That #46987 stamped pump originally was installed on:
1971 Chevelle w/AC & 350cid. w/4bbl.
1971 Monte Carlos w/small block 400cid.
1971 Impala w/AC & 350cid.w/4bbl.& small block 400cid.w/4bbl.

Depending on assembly date,I think some 69 Z's came with #40725 stamp also, showing 6470422 on the box.

Re: 69 Z Fuel Pump

My 69 (Z) had a 40726 pump.Still have it,but had to change it out and ended up using a 40987 showing 6470779 which doesn't have the AC on the pump.At some point in time GM stop putting the AC the there fuel pumps.

Re: 69 Z Fuel Pump

If I recall correctly, a company named Blackstone was actually making most of the fuel pumps for AC. Blackstone also sold pumps under their own name without the AC logo, but the rest of the pump was absolutely identical.

Thanks for the input everybody, got the right one today and got it installed. Lesson learned for next time. It is a royal PITA replacing a fuel pump in a 69 camaro with smog, I need a long time before going there again.

Take the smog off Dave. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif It probably was not on that car much longer than 2 weeks after new! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

This car (Z-28) is staying stock, I have went past the point of no return on it. Next car I keep will be fun non- numbers match, day two, something like I had in high school only nicer. Trailer queens look pretty but they have plenty of drawbacks. I want something 69 or 70 Chevelle that I can thrash, take to the strip and have some fun with and not worry about it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif
